Each year at our Tent Sale, we raise money for a local nonprofit that is dedicated to making a difference in the community. This year, we proudly supported Adaptive Rowing Annapolis - a 501(c)3 charitable organization founded in 2019 that offers recreational and competitive rowing opportunities for adults with physical or cognitive impairments.
It was our honor to present the President of Adaptive Rowing Annapolis, Amelia Heffernan, and Board Member, Steve Root, with a $1,000 check this morning.
Adaptive Rowing Annapolis (ARA) offers on-the-water practices from April through October, as well as indoor training sessions during the winter months that allow athletes to improve their technical skills, maintain fitness, and spend time with their fellow rowers. All practices are led by experienced coaches (including former Olympic athletes) who provide a safe, fun, and supportive environment for developing technique and achieving goals, while fostering independence, teamwork, and freedom of movement. Adaptive Rowing Annapolis rowers range in age from 30 to 80 and have varying abilities and impairments, including blindness, cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury, missing limbs, and paraplegia.
