We are happy to share that our initial Kiggly Racing planetary gear testing is finally complete! The final design adjustments have been made and we have officially started the first production run. The sets should be available the end of March 2025. We are not taking pre-orders but we have created a Facebook Event to gather a list of people interested. We will contact people on the list to confirm interest and take orders when we have parts in hand (link below). A huge thank you to Warren Dsouza and the Antilag Racing Team, Richard Bleier at RSB Racing, Darren and Giovannia Thomas at Darren Thomas-Racing, and Ricky Nichols at Rix Racing for trusting us enough to be our testers.
Pricing for the gear set will be $1,900 plus shipping & insurance. These will need to be installed into an OEM planetary carrier (not provided) and reuse the pins, needle bearings, and some of the thrust washers. You will need to purchase a specialized rivet assembly tool for $75.
We are working with Darren Thomas-Racing to provide an assembly service for those interested. Their assembly fee will be $200 per set and will be added to the order if the option is selected. Parts will ship directly from DTR and you will work with them regarding cores. You will not need to purchase an assembly tool when utilizing their service.
The gears performed well in all testing and unlike the OEM helical gears, they showed very even wear across the gear tooth faces and excellent load distribution. They are stronger than OEM material, a thicker tooth profile for reduced bending stress, and we were able to sneak in about 5% more effective gear width at the lower planets by optimizing thrust washers. While much improved vs OEM, these gears WILL NOT BE INDESTUCTIBLE. They need a good oil pressure feed with good quality oil. More detailed instructions will come later, but we want to see 60psi minimum feeding them with a high quality oil that has good film strength and Extreme Pressure additives, such as John Deere HyGard.
