APPLICATIONS ENGINEER/FIELD SERVICE ENGINEER
Borries Marking Systems is a leading manufacturer of marking machinery for the automotive other industrial markets. Headquartered in Germany, Borries has provided quality products and performance in the industry for over 60 years.
Borries USA headquarters in Ann Arbor, MI is currently seeking a full time Applications/Service Engineer for our operations. Primary duties include installation support, field service, and technical training on our equipment, as well as working with Sales and Engineering on applications development for sales of new equipment.
The individual must be a problem solver who is able to multi-task, prioritize, as well as enjoys working with customers in an engineering and manufacturing environment. Strong troubleshooting skills and a thorough understanding of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems is required. We also expect a strong knowledge of computers with the ability to navigate, load and retrieve software. The candidate should be experienced with using test and diagnostic equipment in the field.
This position would require approximately 20-25% travel (outside of greater Detroit area), with the majority within the US, but some in Canada and Mexico.
QUALIFICATIONS
 Minimum 2-year degree in electronical/mechanical technology (4-year engineering degree
preferred) or equivalent work experience
 ability to interpret mechanical and electrical drawings
 professional customer interaction skills
 working knowledge of electrical test equipment
 excellent communications skills
 strong computer skills
 superior troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
 German language skills would be beneficial but not required

Job Title: Technical Sales/Marketing Manager
Job Duties:
• Hold responsibility for expanding North American sales and managing the support for the existing customer base for a leading manufacturer of marking machinery for the automotive market and other industrial markets. Identify and pe*****te new markets for company products, including aerospace, heavy equipment manufacturers, medical, and tool manufacturers. Understand the complexities of the company’s offerings and keep up to date on the latest advances in all related industries. Prepare and conduct persuasive product presentations, to convey benefits, and answer technical questions. Work closely with customers and their technical staff, meet in-person during the quotation phase to assist in conception of a solution for the customer based on analysis of the technical requirements and recommendation of appropriate solutions. Complete proposals, write up sales orders, prepare sales documents, and negotiate contract terms. Provide post-sales support for customers, discuss and troubleshoot any problems with a recently purchased product, make minor adjustments or repairs, and log issues to be discussed with the production team. Hold complete responsibility for all US marketing efforts, including creation of a marketing plan to further promote the company and its products. Work with company’s advertising agent to generate a yearly print and internet advertising campaign and develop new marketing strategies. Monitor the performance of the various marketing tools, on at least a quarterly basis. Work with customers in an engineering and manufacturing environment. Travel is required in the USA, Canada, Mexico and periodically to company headquarters in Germany.
Requirements: BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or related field + 3 years experience in a managerial position involving sales/marketing in the automotive industry. Travel required in the USA, Canada, Mexico and periodically to company headquarters in Germany.
