One capacity rating doesn't tell the whole story.

When you're comparing heavy haul trailers, there are two numbers you need to look at.

πŸ‘‰πŸ» Distributed capacity is the total weight the trailer can carry when the load is spread across the deck.
πŸ‘‰πŸ» Concentrated (point) load capacity is the amount of weight the trailer can support within a smaller section of the deck.

The one that matters depends on what you're hauling.

βœ… A long piece of equipment that spreads its weight across the trailer? Distributed capacity is your number.
βœ… A generator, press, or other equipment with a small footprint? Concentrated load capacity becomes just as important.

Before you spec a trailer, make sure you know both.

Some operators don't need bells and whistles. They need a trailer that hooks up, loads right, and runs.

The 2024 Mechanical Neck 40 Ton is exactly that.

40-ton capacity. Mechanical neck RGN. Built for construction equipment, oilfield loads, and industrial hauls where reliability matters more than features.

The mechanical neck keeps it simple, fewer hydraulic components means less to maintain and less to go wrong on a job site. More uptime. Lower long-term cost.

If you're running consistent 40-ton work and need a trailer that earns its keep every day, this one's worth a look.

Currently on the lot.

Anybody can sell you a trailer.

The hard part is making sure it's the *right* one.

We've seen it happen too many times. A trailer looks good on paper, but once it gets to work, it's not the right fit. Now you're dealing with permits you didn't expect, hauling limits you didn't plan for, or wishing you'd gone a little bigger, or a little smaller.

That's why the first thing we ask isn't, "Which trailer do you want?"

It's:

* What are you hauling?
* What's your typical load?
* Where are you running?
* What do you need this trailer to do every day?

Those answers matter more than the name on the side.

We carry brands we trust: Kalyn Siebert, XL Specialized, Alpha, Trail King, and Fontaine, but we're not here to push one over another. We're here to help you find the trailer that's going to work for your operation today and still make sense years down the road.

If you're adding to your fleet or replacing a trailer that's earned its keep, give us a call. We'll help you find the right piece of iron for the job.

The right trailer is not just about tonnage. Axle configuration can affect what you can haul, where you can run, and which jobs are actually profitable.

Before comparing price, buyers should look closely at:
β€’ Axle count and spacing
β€’ Flip axle prep and future flexibility
β€’ Bridge-law and permit requirements
β€’ Route needs across local, regional, or multi-state work

Two trailers may look similar on paper, but perform very differently once they are loaded and routed. A lower price can come with limits that show up later in legal capacity, load opportunities, uptime, or resale value. Read our post to learn more:

Air ride suspension gets listed as a spec. Rarely explained.

Here's what it actually does to your cargo in transit.

πŸ‘‰πŸ» Standard suspension absorbs road impact through mechanical deflection.
πŸ‘‰πŸ» On rough terrain, that impact transfers upward: through the trailer, to the load.
πŸ‘‰πŸ» Air ride absorbs it with air-cushioned bags. The load experiences significantly less vibration.

πŸ• When this matters: precision industrial equipment, high-value loads, secondary roads, any cargo with controlled transport requirements.

For robust freight, standard is fine.

For everything else , the spec protects the cargo. And the cargo protects the contract.

Most operators think financing a trailer is the expensive option.
It usually isn't.

Here's the math that actually matters:
Does the monthly payment get covered by what the trailer earns?
In most heavy haul applications, one load per week does exactly that.
Everything above it is margin.

And the cash you didn't spend stays liquid.
Available for fuel. For repairs on other units. For payroll when a slow month hits. For the next opportunity.

$150,000 sitting in a purchased trailer is $150,000 that stopped working for you.
One more number worth running:
Every month without the trailer is a month of loads you didn't run.
The interest cost of financing is almost always less than the revenue cost of not having the equipment.

Financing isn't a fallback.
For most operators, it's the smarter capital decision.

The trailer pays for itself.
The cash stays working.

Most operators decide to repair or replace based on gut feel.

The ones who make the right call run this number first:

Annual maintenance cost vs. annual payment on a replacement.

If repairs on your current trailer are running $8,000–$12,000 a year β€” that's a monthly payment on something newer. Except the newer unit comes with warranty coverage, better spec, and no surprise invoices.

The repair option only wins when:
β€” The frame is structurally sound with years of life left
β€” The spec still matches the work you're running
β€” Repairs are isolated, not recurring on the same components
β€” The total annual maintenance cost stays well below a replacement payment

The replacement option wins when:
β€” You're repairing the same things more than once a year
β€” The spec no longer fits your loads or routes
β€” Downtime from repairs is costing you more than the repairs themselves
β€” The trailer is limiting the work you can take

Neither answer is universal.
But the number doesn't lie.

Run it before you decide.
