We are incredibly proud of Matt Olson, one of AMC’s newest Principals, for being nominated for the Alaska Engineers Week Engineer of the Year Award! 👏 Way to go, Matt!
✨ Final Engineer of the Year Nominee Spotlight: Matt Olsen ✨
Originally from Minnesota, Matt Olsen made his way to Alaska in 2006 after earning his BS in Mechanical Engineering from St. Cloud State University — and what started as a summer adventure quickly became home.
Now an Associate and Senior Mechanical Engineer at AMC Engineers, Matt brings nearly 20 years of experience designing building systems for some of Alaska’s most challenging projects, with a strong focus on healthcare.
As a Certified Healthcare Constructor, he specializes in highly technical spaces like hospitals, operating rooms, sterile processing, labs, pharmacies, cleanrooms, emergency departments, and advanced imaging environments. His experience spans new construction, phased and occupied renovations, LEED certified facilities, code compliance evaluations, master planning, construction administration, and commissioning.
Matt is known for tackling complex design challenges with a practical, hands-on approach — always focused on safe, reliable, and operator-friendly solutions. He also shares his expertise through local and national conference presentations, including on compounding pharmacy design and regulatory compliance.
👏 Join us in congratulating Matt on this well-deserved nomination!
