New or renewed gearbox? Change the oil in the first 30 days.
Most people know to change the oil eventually. Fewer know that a new or freshly renewed gearbox needs a change within the first 30 days of operation.
Why? Break-in wear. Even a unit built to factory spec will shed fine metal particles during initial run-in. That first oil change flushes them out before they do damage.
Oil is the lifeblood of your gearbox. The right oil, at the right interval, at the right level is what separates a gearbox that runs for decades from one that shows up at our shop ahead of schedule.
Our newest video on Inside the Gearbox walks through Amarillo Gear's official oil recommendations: mineral vs. synthetic, temperature ranges, AGMA ratings, and what to avoid. It's the kind of information that pays for itself.
