🖤❤️💚 Honoring Juneteenth - A Legacy of Liberation & Leadership 💚❤️🖤
On Juneteenth, we reflect on the historic journey toward freedom, resilience, and opportunity. As a Black-owned business, Slater Infrastructure Group is deeply rooted in the values this day represents.
Founded in 1997 by Jeanne Simkins Hollis, our company carries a legacy inspired by her great-grandfather, Simon Green Atkins, a visionary educator and entrepreneur who founded the Slater Industrial Academy, now Winston-Salem State University, in 1892.
SG Atkins built communities, empowered Black families through education, homeownership, healthcare, and economic opportunity during a time when those rights were systematically denied.
We proudly renamed our company Slater to honor that legacy and continue the mission of creating infrastructure that uplifts, educates, and empowers. Every project we touch is driven by a passion to build a more inclusive, sustainable, and equitable future.
This Juneteenth, we honor the sacrifices of the past and renew our commitment to building communities that thrive.
