🎉 Congratulations to Mary on a well deserved award! It has been an absolute pleasure to work with her over the years and there is no question she has an unwavering passion for the dairy industry! We look forward to continuing to work alongside her and her family's dairy farm!
This year, we’re shining a light on Michigan women in agriculture who play an essential role in dairy’s story during the International Year of the Woman Farmer.
This month, we’re featuring Mary Costigan of Windy View Farm in Coopersville, MI. “I love being outside,” she says, “working with the cows — and the fact that my kids can be around, too.” While she loves that her kids get incredible experiences, like watching live calf birth and learning responsibility through chores, there are challenges, too. “As a mom, you can’t ever find a perfect balance,” she explains. “There’s not enough time in the day to get it all done.”
When asked what would surprise people about running a dairy farm, she says, “Each cow has their own individual personality. To the untrained eye, they might all look the same, but they are definitely each their own cow with their own schedules, routines, and opinions!”
Her favorite dairy food is Crockpot Mac n Cheese (with LOTS of cheese!) and oven-baked mini cheeseburgers.
