Earlier this month, our Denver team headed to Monument Lake for another year of Creek Week cleanup, spending the morning collecting seven bags of trash and debris, including a discarded tire! Afterward, the crew celebrated with a well-earned lunch at Great Divide Brewery & Roadhouse.

This year's Creek Week brought together more than 1,700 volunteers who removed nearly 23 tons of trash from Colorado's waterways and open spaces!

Thanks to our BH volunteers for doing their part to keep Colorado beautiful. Great people supporting great communities in action!

We're headed to Santa Fe! This year's conference theme, Planning Close to Home: Good Neighbors, Great Places, highlights the importance of local solutions, community partnerships, and thoughtful planning that reflects the places we call home.

Our team will also be contributing to two conference sessions, exploring how planning studies can become lasting community resources and how Santa Fe's new Street Design Guide can support safer, more context-sensitive streets.

We're looking forward to connecting with colleagues, sharing our experiences, and supporting APA New Mexico's continued efforts to advance the planning profession.

Two states. Two conferences. One shared commitment to stronger communities. Bohannan Huston's Planning team is gearing up for the 2026 APA New Mexico and APA Colorado Planning Conferences! We're pleased to support both American Planning Association state chapters as an exhibiting sponsor, and our planning professionals will also contribute to three conference sessions.

From Santa Fe to Keystone, our team will share ideas, explore community planning challenges, and connect with fellow professionals working to shape the future of our communities. Supporting these organizations is an important part of staying engaged in the planning profession, strengthening regional relationships, and contributing to conversations that move communities forward.

Bohannan Huston recently celebrated the opening of our newly relocated Grand Junction office with a ribbon cutting and open house, marking another step in our continued commitment to Colorado and the Western Slope.

Thank you to CML Executive Board Member and Grand Junction City Council Member Anna Stout, Councilor Cody Kennedy, Mesa County Commissioner JJ Fletcher, Grand Junction Deputy City Manager Kimberly Bullen, and the Grand Junction Chamber of Commerce for joining us and helping make the celebration meaningful.

Last month, we focused on building connections with future engineers, one minifig at a time. Bohannan Huston attended university career fairs across New Mexico, connecting with students in Albuquerque, Socorro, and Las Cruces.

Our LEGO minifig build stations were a hit, giving students a fun way to meet our team and start conversations about engineering, internships, career opportunities, and life at BHI. For many students, these conversations are their first introduction to BHI and a chance to hear directly from the people doing the work.

Thank you to our HR team and employees who took time out of their busy schedules to represent BHI, share their experiences, and help future civil engineers get a jump-start on their careers. Maybe we met a few future BHI team members along the way!

One intersection. Two historic Route 66 alignments. 100 years of the Mother Road.

On September 24, ASCE New Mexico dedicated a National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark plaque at 4th Street and Central Avenue in downtown Albuquerque, where the city’s two historic Route 66 alignments meet.

BHI’s Jeanette Walther, an ASCE NM Past President, led the committee that brought the dedication together, with support from Roger Zimmerman, ASCE NM’s History and Heritage Committee, the City of Albuquerque, and BHI’s Visual Communications team. A lot of history and teamwork behind the landmark plaque.

Bohannan Huston is pleased to announce that Jeff Mulbery has been named Chief Operations Officer, following a planned leadership transition that began earlier this year.

Jeff brings deep experience across BHI, along with a strong focus on developing people, improving how we work, and advancing internal initiatives that support innovation and leadership.

He succeeds longtime COO Leslie Small, who will retire at the end of 2026 after 41 years with BHI, including nearly 12 years as COO. We’re grateful for Leslie’s leadership and the lasting impact she has made across the company.

A little rivalry made for a great reason to get together in Las Cruces last weekend. BHI employees, friends, and family gathered for a pregame tailgate ahead of the annual Rio Grande Rivalry between the Lobos and Aggies. There was plenty to enjoy before kickoff, including a great spread from The Boyz Straight Up BBQ and a homemade dip contest that brought a little friendly competition to the tailgate.

The Lobos finished the day with a 42–18 win, keeping The Roaster in Albuquerque for another year. It was a fun afternoon of good food, good company, and New Mexico football.

BHI was proud to support the New Mexico 4-H Rodeo circuit this year as a participating sponsor, helping support eight events across the state and the September finals at McGee Park in San Juan County.

The circuit brought together 4-H youth, families, and communities from across New Mexico, and gave our team a great opportunity to connect with attendees and share more about BHI and the engineering profession.

Thank you to Donzil Worthington for representing BHI throughout the circuit and finals, and to the New Mexico 4-H Rodeo community for welcoming us. We’re glad to support programs that bring people together and invest in the next generation of New Mexicans.

That's a wrap on CASFM 2026! Bohannan Huston was proud to be a Gold Sponsor and exhibitor in Steamboat Springs, where our team spent a few great days learning, networking, reconnecting with familiar faces, and making new connections across Colorado’s stormwater and floodplain management community. Good conversations, cool mountain weather, and a beautiful setting made the week even better.

A big thank you to the CASFM Board and conference committee for all the work that goes into making this such a valuable event for members and partners. Next stop: CASFM 2027 in Keystone. We’re already looking forward to it!
