the Street Machine Nationals returned to DuQuoin State Fairgrounds in 2013 after a tireless effort from Toby Brooks to bring the show back ..meeting with State & local government .. special events who once tmanaged the show as well as myself and other past participants before 2013 for input…
Not to make it what it was in the 80’s & 90’s but an event to go to have fun ..relive our youth and showcase what we love …as a surprise a small number of us were recognized for contributing to the rise of what was once the greatest street fest ever .. the following year and each year since ..members of this bunch that make it back to DQ each year pick 2 or 3 pro Street cars and present them with a pro street legends award .. this is a way we can give back to not only the show that consumed our lives but those continuing to make prO street live on
No certain criteria .. no first second or third ..just what we as individuals love seeing in a pro car
I will say personally I have been brought to tears hearing stories of praise of how we inspired them and there love of the sport …. With that I would love to introduce to you the 2026 SMN
