NV5 was proud to host Survey Evolution, a Surveying + Mapping Learning Lab, at the 2026 Tampa Bay Construction Career Days. This FDOT-led event brought together students from across Southwest Florida, Central Florida, and Tampa Bay to learn more about career paths within the construction and transportation sectors.

Chad Colson and Dave Dagostino educated students on modern surveying and mapping careers, highlighting advanced technologies such as aerial LiDAR and 3D laser scanning.

Engaging the next generation and building awareness of surveying and mapping careers is a critical step in maintaining a resilient, future-ready transportation system. Thank you to FDOT, participating schools, and industry professionals for collaborating on such a meaningful workforce development effort!

We’re excited to announce that NV5 has been awarded the contract for FSU’s Recovery and Mitigation of the historic Ringling Ca’ d’Zan Museum. NV5 will support the long-term preservation of this iconic waterfront structure through surveying, internal 3D scanning, and BIM modeling.

The Ca’ d’Zan sustained significant damage during Hurricane Helene, including storm surge impacts to lower levels and critical building systems. Accurate documentation of existing conditions is a critical first step in recovery and mitigation, particularly for historic facilities exposed to coastal hazards.

Using advanced 3D scanning and BIM modeling, our team will deliver reliable digital data that captures both the building’s historic character and post-storm conditions. These models will help project partners assess vulnerabilities, coordinate restoration efforts, and plan for long-term resilience.

NV5 is proud to support FSU and the project team on this important preservation effort.

3D scanning is advancing historic facility preservation with faster existing conditions capture and better data for planning.

Continuing our series, we’re showcasing how NV5 supported the City of Gainesville through advanced 3D scanning at the Historic Thomas Center. Using reality capture technology supported by drone data collection, our team delivered a detailed Revit model, imagery, and a georeferenced point cloud. Together, these deliverables support informed decision making, asset management, and long-term stewardship.

3D scanning allows our team to capture existing conditions with increased speed and precision compared to traditional methods. The detailed data this method produces is especially valuable for historic municipal facilities like the Thomas Center, supporting preservation, renovation, and ongoing operations.

By combining field expertise with innovative technology, NV5 helps communities better understand and manage their assets. We’re proud to support the City of Gainesville and to thank the surveyors whose work makes projects like this possible.

Surveying made the permanent protection of thousands of acres of Florida conservation land possible.

In recognition of , we’re highlighting NV5’s boundary survey of approximately 11,000 acres for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. Our work supported a 21,600‑acre acquisition that expanded the Goethe State Forest and strengthened the Florida Wildlife Corridor.

Over the past month and a half, our team has continued the effort in the field, marking more than 26 miles of perimeter boundary. Completion is just weeks away.

Surveying provides the accuracy agencies rely on to protect public lands and manage them responsibly. We’re proud to recognize surveyors and the work they do to support sound land decisions.

We were proud to present at ULI North Florida's Gainesville Moving Dirt 2026 event, sharing insights from our F-300 AgFoodTech Innovation Park project and its role in shaping the future of agricultural innovation and economic development in North Central Florida.

This large‑scale, master‑planned innovation district will advance ag‑food technology, research, and food production through a strategic public‑private partnership. The project demonstrates a successful Public Private Partnership between the City of Newberry, Stefan Davis and the Davis Family, Harvest Singularity, and other stakeholders to support long‑term economic growth and innovation in accordance with the Community’s vision.

NV5’s Director of Planning, Craig Brashier, AICP, discussed the vision, planning framework, and collaborative approach behind this transformative project. Thank you to ULI North Florida and everyone who joined the conversation!

Continuing our celebration, we’re spotlighting Matthew Cantrell, PE, Project Manager, who was inspired to become an engineer at a young age.

"Ever since I was young, I’ve had an affinity for math and science that pushed me to search for the best solutions to any problem. I still remember my 8th grade science class, where building a bridge out of toothpicks, glue, and string on a strict budget sparked my interest in engineering. That curiosity grew even more as I listened in on my brother’s Mechanical Engineering classes at the University of Florida during the summer.

Today, I appreciate that the problems I solve have real-world impact and can benefit local communities. I take pride in seeing the final results of the many hours of hard work and dedication that go into our craft."

Engineers shape safer, stronger communities through the solutions they bring to life. We’re proud to have dedicated problem solvers like Matthew on our team!
