Today, we’re celebrating Sergio Cruz, AICP and his first year with Menadier Engineering.

Sergio isn’t just a Land Planner, he’s what we like to call a “Plan-gineer.” Someone who doesn’t just look at a site and see what it is, but what it could be.

With a background in both civil engineering and urban planning, Sergio brings a perspective that’s rare. He blends technical precision with creativity, using data, GIS mapping, and real-world insight to shape projects that are not only functional, but meaningful to the communities they serve.

Over the past year, we’ve watched Sergio grow into his role in a big way. He thrives in a fast paced, dynamic environment, balancing multiple projects while continuing to sharpen his skills and expand his knowledge of the municipalities we work in.

Sergio operates with a mindset that shows up in everything he does:
“How you do anything is how you do everything.”

And it shows.

He’s not here to just do the job. He’s here to master it.

He’s focused on building relationships, developing his own urban design style, and growing into a leader who can bridge the gap between planning and engineering. His goal is clear, to become a Project Manager and a trusted, go to resource for both civil engineering and urban planning.

That level of intention, paired with his willingness to learn, take feedback, and continuously improve, is exactly what drives this company forward.

Sergio brings a quiet confidence to the team. He listens, he analyzes, and when he speaks, it’s intentional. He’s thoughtful in his approach, collaborative by nature, and always looking for the best path forward, not just the easiest one.

Outside of the office, Sergio brings that same discipline and energy into his personal life. He enjoys playing soccer, staying active in the gym, and traveling, always exploring and always growing both personally and professionally.

In just one year, he’s become a key part of how we think, how we plan, and how we grow.

We’re proud to have him on this team and even more excited to see where the next few years take him.

We are excited to share that we hosted our first AI workshop, and it was a great start to something we hope will continue growing in our local community.

Sergio Cruz, AICP and Quang Tran helped lead the way, and we were honored to welcome our first guests: Jonathan Dreyer with Dreyer DKI and Kyle Cheshire with Cheshire Construction & Development, Inc.

The focus was simple: helping local business owners better understand how AI can be used in practical, everyday ways.

At Menadier Engineering, our team has already started exploring how AI can support real workflow improvements. Recently, our designers and engineers ran into a repetitive cleanup task in Civil 3D. Instead of handling it manually, they used AI to help write a custom command that completed the task for them. It saved about 20 to 30 minutes. That may not sound like much at first, but when you multiply that across 5, 10, or 15 projects, that time starts to add up quickly.

That is the kind of practical, real-world use we want to help others understand.

We may all have a basic understanding of AI, but Menadier Engineering and ARTIFACT® are here to help break it down in layman’s terms, make it less intimidating, and show how it can be used as a tool to work smarter, not harder.

Moving forward, we plan to host monthly workshops for local business owners and bi-weekly workshops for students, associates, and members of the public.

This is just the beginning, and we are excited to keep learning, sharing, and growing together.
