If the age of your equipment, environmental or regulatory concerns, or changing fuel costs and supply are causing you to consider a boiler fuel conversion, Babcock & Wilcox and B&W FPS have the experience to plan, manage and execute your boiler fuel conversion project, regardless of the original boiler manufacturer.

As a leading worldwide supplier of boilers and combustion systems for a wide variety of fuels, B&W has vast expertise as well as experience completing over 150 fuel conversion projects. Since 2010, FPS has completed 52 natural gas conversions on boilers in North America, resulting in an annual reduction of CO2 emissions of more than 13 million tons, as well as a very significant reduction in NOx and mercury emissions.

In addition to the environmental benefits, our combined projects have provided energy producers with a life extension to their existing assets and increased reliability and safety, with little to no impact to the cost of energy to consumers.

Our turnkey gas conversions can include management of all aspects of the project beginning with the gas pipeline. Our project team will provide the detailed design, manufacturing, construction and commissioning.

In addition to boiler conversions, we also have experience with hydroelectric upgrade projects and both new and upgrade projects associated with gas turbines.

When you are working at the scale of data centers or industry, you need utility-grade power to meet key uptime and workload capacity metrics.

B&W provides reliable, scalable utility-grade power for data centers through our FastPower solutions, using proven natural gas boiler and steam turbine technology to deliver dispatchable, high-capacity electricity. These can be deployed as grid-connected or behind-the-meter solutions depending on your specific situation.

Our approach can scale from multiple 50 MW blocks to 300 MW plants, with the option for an enhanced combined cycle once gas turbines are added down the line. This enables phased investment aligned with demand growth. Blocks can be repeated so that 2 GW of power becomes a modular assembly of proven, bankable units rather than a single mega-project. You'll satisfy immediate foundational power needs while gaining long-term efficiency through a multi-phased process. The design adapts to market prices, regulatory changes, and combustion turbine availability without stranding capital.

Visit us in booth 915 at YOTTA from Sept 28-30 to find out more and ask our team questions about your specific project.

Since our founding 160 years ago, B&W has been innovating smarter, more sustainable energy solutions. Our BrightLoop™ technology is helping redefine what’s possible by transforming waste and biomass into valuable energy products, including low-carbon hydrogen. The process can also be configured to produce steam for process or electricity generation, or syngas for liquid fuel or methanol production, all with CO2 isolation.

Through its advanced chemical looping process, BrightLoop can utilize a wide range of solid and gaseous fuels as feedstock to produce a stream of nearly pure hydrogen while isolating carbon dioxide for capture, creating a more efficient pathway to cleaner energy production. This greatly reduces the amount of energy and fossil fuel required to produce hydrogen from hydrocarbons while also effectively and inexpensively isolating carbon dioxide.

By turning materials that might otherwise be discarded into useful energy resources, BrightLoop supports both decarbonization and the circular economy. It’s a powerful example of how technology can help reduce emissions, unlock value from waste streams, and advance the transition to a more sustainable energy future.
