WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Labor announced changes to Occupational Safety and Health Administration civil penalty amounts based on cost-of-living adjustments for 2023.

Under the Act, agencies are required to publish “catch-up” rules that adjust the level of civil monetary penalties and make subsequent annual adjustments for inflation no later than January 15 of each year. This year, January 15 falls on a Sunday and January 16 is a federal holiday. Therefore, new OSHA penalty amounts will become effective Jan. 17, 2023.

(Increase from $14,502 per violation

Slips * Trips * Falls

It may come as a surprise that the second leading cause of injury-related death is falls.

Hazards in the Workplace

In 2020, 805 workers died in falls, and 211,640 were injured badly enough to require days off of work.

Construction workers are most at risk for fatal falls from height – more than seven times the rate of other industries. 😳

Falls are 100% Preventable and it's important to plan ahead, assess the worksite risk and use the right equipment..Making sure you are properly trained on how to use the equipment. Always assess the work area for potential hazards before starting the job.

Make sure you check the weather forecast if outdoors. Wear slip-resistant shoes and never use damaged equipment.
