Our Applied Research Center (ARC) Open House last week marked a major milestone in the storied history of APT, a history we continue to write through the construction of the ARC, our future center for scientific excellence.

At the open house, we brought together shareholders, community partners, employees, and friends to break bread, connect, hear our vision for the future of APT, and discuss the next leg our journey together.

Excited for the next chapter of our growth.

We’re excited to welcome back Kristen Vake as our returning emcee for Women Leading the Way (WLTW) 2026!

Kristen is the Executive Director of the Iron Mining Association of Minnesota and a former TV news anchor and journalist who brings incredible storytelling energy to every stage she steps on. ✨

A proud Iron Ranger from Chisholm, MN, Kristen is passionate about driving positive change across our region. From helping launch ReGen to ensure young voices are heard, to serving on multiple boards and community organizations, she’s deeply committed to leadership and impact.

Her ability to connect, inspire, and spark meaningful conversations makes her the perfect guide for our day together. 💛

Last Thursday, March 26th, we had the pleasure of hosting the high school teachers from ISD #1 - Aitkin Public Schools.

From touring our plant and lab to learning more about our products, it was a fun and informative day filled with great conversations and hands-on learning. We truly enjoyed sharing what we do and connecting with such a dedicated group of educators.

We also had the chance to discuss future partnership opportunities with AHS, something we’re excited about as we continue to support local education and workforce development.

Thank you for spending the day with us! It was a great visit!

✨Welcome to the Panel, Emily Kyllonen! ✨

We’re excited to welcome Emily Kyllonen to the Women Leading the Way (WLTW) 2026 panel!

Emily has worked in the counseling field for 15 years and currently serves as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor at New Beginnings Counseling Grand Rapids & Aitkin, supporting individuals and families in the surrounding community since 2017. She also teaches as an adjunct instructor in the Counselor Education Department at the University of Wisconsin–Superior.

Emily is passionate about mental health prevention and early intervention for children, teens, and young adults, and her work is rooted in empathy and empowering others.

Outside of work, Emily enjoys coaching youth fastpitch softball and volleyball and lives in Aitkin with her husband and three kids.

We’re honored to have Emily’s perspective and passion represented on this year’s panel!

Jamie is an Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner at Cuyuna Regional Medical Center (CRMC), where she has been caring for patients since 2018. With a background in family medicine and certification in Obesity Medicine, she’s passionate about empowering people to take charge of their health.

Her heart for service and commitment to helping others live healthier, more confident lives make her a powerful addition to our panel.

Deb brings over 20 years of leadership experience in both the public and private sectors. She currently serves as Director of Human Resources at Riverwood Healthcare Center, where she leads initiatives that strengthen organizational culture, enhance employee engagement, and support operational excellence.

Deb is passionate about developing leaders and creating workplaces where people thrive both personally and professionally. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, golfing, and spending time with her family.
