How do you maximize daylight in a 544,000-square-foot science and engineering facility without compromising safety?
At Harvard University's Science and Engineering Complex, designed by Behnisch Architekten, Carl Stahl stainless steel cable mesh was used to create transparent balustrade systems throughout the building's atriums and circulation spaces.
The lightweight mesh provides the strength required for fall protection while preserving openness, visibility, and the flow of natural light deep into the building. The result is a solution that supports both architectural vision and occupant experience.
