A construction company working on new Chic-fil-A locations got tired of outsourcing their parking lots & decided to start up their own paving crew. They bought a new TS160-4 pneumatic tire roller & had great success on its first job. The TS160-4 is the only premium quality-built fixed frame small PTR on the market and it uniquely features rear steering for greater maneuverability & reduced shoving when entering the mat.

Our Atlanta dealer Reynolds-Warren Equipment Co. supplied this customer.

We recently celebrated two anniversaries: our 50th year in North America AND our 25th year of USA manufacturing. SAKAI entered the domestic market in 1976, although surprisingly with the goal of selling our unique pneumatic-tired milling machine. We quickly learned we needed domestic support and SAKAI America was spun up. Compaction equipment, including asphalt rollers & soil compactors, from our parent company in Japan quickly became our more important import. We signed our first dealer in 1977 and today we have 200 dealer locations in the US and Canada. From the beginning we had the goal of domestic manufacturing…when the conditions were right. So in 2001 we finally opened our Adairsville, GA factory. Today, 25 years later, we proudly build over half of our North American sold machines here with additional models being added periodically.

Here’s to another 50 years and the next 25 years of local manufacturing!

A pair of Guardman-equipped SAKAI SW884ND oscillating asphalt rollers compact a bridge deck in echelon pattern. Guardman detects & stops automatically for personnel, objects & other equipment in the path of the roller if the operator does not heed warnings first. And on our larger highway-class rollers, Guardman’s Echelon Mode allows multiple roller operators to trail each other closely without false alarms, but with full automatic braking capability on standby in the event of inattention or emergency. A proximity meter on the display helps train the operator on following distance.
