🏁 Custom race car problems require custom solutions.

Today at LayerBuilt Labs we’re working on a small part with a big purpose.

The mission: mounting a Holley EFI 6.86” Pro Dash into a Fox Body Mustang without risking damage to the dash.

The Holley Pro Dash is an incredible piece of equipment:
🔥 6.86” full color touchscreen
🔥 Customizable EFI data display
🔥 Programmable shift lights
🔥 Built for demanding motorsports environments

But race cars aren’t gentle. Between vibration, chassis movement, and mounting pressure, sometimes the weakest point isn’t the electronics… it’s what they’re mounted to.

So instead of a hard plastic adapter, we designed a custom TPU mounting gasket/brace.

Why TPU?

✅ Flexible rubber-like material
✅ Helps absorb vibration
✅ Spreads mounting pressure more evenly
✅ Creates a cushioned barrier between components
✅ Helps reduce stress points that can lead to cracking

This isn’t just “printing plastic.”

It’s taking a problem, designing a solution, choosing the right material, and making a part that fits the application.

From prototypes to one-off custom parts, this is exactly why LayerBuilt Labs exists.

Measure. Design. Print. Improve. 🔧
Stay tuned to see the printed product, but for now, check out “Cosmo & Wanda” ⬇️⬇️⬇️

Can’t wait to see this one installed in the Mustang. 🏁

FINAL PRINT PHASE. 🔥

The major components for the CyberBrick Water Turret are nearly done printing and next comes the fun part:

⚙️ Wiring
⚙️ Assembly
⚙️ Calibration
⚙️ Testing
💧 Controlled backyard chaos

This project has been ridiculously fun to watch develop layer by layer. The final reveal is getting CLOSE. 👀

Little by little, the turret is taking shape. 😎

We’re getting closer to final assembly and I’m honestly impressed with how clean these components are turning out.

The real magic starts once the electronics go in and everything gets calibrated… and THAT part is coming soon. 👀💧

Until then, enjoy some more print timelapse goodness.

The deeper I get into this CyberBrick Water Turret build, the crazier the engineering starts looking. 👀

These aren’t just random plastic pieces. Every section has mounting points, movement paths, structural supports, and electronics integration built into it.

Still not finished yet.
Still tuning.
Still assembling.

But seeing the components come to life in timelapse is honestly addictive. ⚙️🔥

NEW PROJECT ALERT. 👀

Starting work on the CyberBrick Water Turret build and this thing already looks insane just from the printed components alone.

Still have electronics, wiring, calibration, and tuning left to do… but the print quality coming off the machine right now is CLEAN. 🔥

Watching these parts grow layer by layer in timelapse never gets old.

This one’s gonna be fun. 💧⚙️

Running the CyberBrick Water Turret in Sunlu PETG green/orange and honestly… this color combo looks like it rolled straight out of an arcade game from the future. 🟢🟠

This build has been a fun mix of:
• Multi-part precision printing
• Mechanical assembly
• Electronics integration
• Dialing in PETG settings for clean, durable parts

The green/orange combo gives it that industrial sci-fi look without going over the top, and PETG should hold up great for outdoor summer use compared to standard PLA.

Printed in-house on our Bambu Lab systems at LayerBuilt Labs.

Now comes the real test:
Do we leave it clean and factory-fresh… or weather it to look battle-worn? 👀

Pa6-CF has landed!
A few tests to run, and then maybe we run off a few frames / lowers 😏

What lower do yo want to see printed in some Pa6-CF??

04/25/2026

We’re diving into PA6-CF (Carbon Fiber Reinforced Nylon 6) for a custom project: a G***k 19 lower.

First up is a full series of calibration tests to dial in the perfect settings. PA6-CF is incredibly strong, rigid, and heat-resistant, but it’s also moisture-sensitive and prone to warping if not handled properly. Once the test prints are looking solid, we’ll move on to printing the complete frame.
Can’t wait to see how the carbon fiber’s added rigidity and premium surface finish perform compared to standard filaments.
