In this chapter, we introduce one of the most widely used tools in affinity based workflows — the Streptavidin Magnetic Bead, based on the strong streptavidin–biotin interaction.

🔹 Streptavidin: a homotetrameric protein from Streptomyces avidinii
🔹 Biotin: a universal labeling tag (vitamin B7)
These two molecules exhibit exceptionally strong non covalent binding, making the streptavidin–biotin pair one of the most powerful tools for selective molecular capture.
