What really determines casting quality?
It is not just the final inspection.
By the time a casting reaches the CMM, most of its quality has already been determined upstream.
Here are 5 key points we pay attention to:
1️⃣ Tooling
Accurate tooling = more consistent wax patterns and better repeatability.
2️⃣ Wax patterns
The casting starts with the wax. Small variations here can carry through to the final part.
3️⃣ Ceramic shell
Shell thickness, drying conditions, strength, and firing all affect how the metal behaves during pouring.
4️⃣ Process control
Pouring temperature, shell preheat, filling, and solidification need to stay within a controlled process window.
5️⃣ Final verification
CMM, optical measurement, surface testing, and NDT confirm whether the process delivered the required result.
The simple idea?
Inspection finds problems.
Process control helps prevent them.
Good casting quality is built step by step, long before the part reaches the inspection table.
