A 40-year-old businessman was ambushed and gunned down in his vehicle on Friday night, just a short distance from the Upper Carapichaima Primary School in Freeport.
The deceased has been identified as Suresh Moonsammy aka Zorro, of Chickland Road, Upper Carapichaima.
Moonsammy, the owner of Big Wave Auto located at Bamboo Boulevard, Bamboo #3, was found dead inside his white Isuzu one-and-a-half-ton van (registration TDZ 6807) along Mission Road, Freeport.
According to police reports, around 9:57 p.m. on Friday 11th July, 2025, officers attached to the CDTF Area South responded to a report about loud explosions heard in the area.
They were met by a passerby who said that around 9:30 p.m., he heard multiple loud explosions followed by a crashing sound. He looked outside and saw a white van crashed into a fence.
Officers observed Moonsammy’s body slumped over in the driver’s seat.
The scene was cordoned off and processed by crime scene investigators from the Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region Three. A total of 18 spent 9mm shells were recovered from the scene.
The District Medical Officer pronounced Moonsammy dead and ordered a post-mortem at the Forensic Science Centre.
Moonsammy's vehicle was also removed and taken to the Freeport Police Station for further forensic processing by the Special Evidence Recovery Unit at Camp Cumuto.
