Different Types of Barrage

A barrage is a gated structure built across a river to control water flow, irrigation, flood control, and water supply.

Types of Barrage:

1. Gated Barrage – Uses adjustable gates to regulate river flow and water level.

2. Sluice Barrage – Controls water using sluice openings and shutters.

3. Weir Barrage – Fixed crest structure where water flows over the top.

4. Composite Barrage – Combination of gated and weir sections.

5. Saddle Barrage – Built in narrow valleys or gorges with low crest structures.

Main Uses:

HOW TO MAKE A MAP LIKE THIS ONE USING ARCMAP, QGIS & A LITTLE BIT OF EXCEL:

1. Follow this amazing tutorial until you reach 15:29: https://www.youtube.com/watch?si=o3KlbA0VqjK5Rd-K&v=D_uYjqZ1nYw&feature=youtu.be

2. Export your map to a folder you will be able to locate. It will be exported as a raster layer.

3. Download the SRTM DEM data for your region of interest from https://earthexplorer.usgs.gov/. In QGIS, add the data as a raster layer.

4. Open QGIS and add the raster layer you exported in step 2.

5. Name this raster layer & gight-click on it and select "Properties". Rename the LULC classes following the order with which they are named in ArcMap. And give the respective classes their suitable colors.

6. Right-click on this layer again and open the Raster Attribute Table.

7. Copy the data in the Raster Attribute Table to Excel and make a bar and a pie chart. Match the bar and pie chart colors from the colors you created in step 5.

8. Right-click on each chart and select "Save as Picture" to a folder which you will be able to locate.

9. Back in QGIS, Add all other vector layers you might want to add, like the layers of provinces, districts, etc. This step is optional.

10. Click on the "Processing Toolbox" and search for "Hillshade". Select the "Hillshade" under "GDAL".

11. For the Input layer, select the DEM data layer which you added in step 3, and then click on " Run".

12. Right-click on the Hillshade layer and select " Properties". On "Color gradient" under "Band Rendering", select "Black to White".

13. On " Blending mode" under "Layer Rendering", select "Multiply".

14. On " Brightness" under "Layer Rendering", give a value of 100 or 110. Click "Apply" and then "OK".

15. Click on "Project" on the top-left corner and select "New Print Layout". Give this layout your preferred name.

16. Add a "Fixed table", and copy all the values from the data you entered in Excel in step 7, making it look like the one shown in the attached map.

17. Add your bar and pie charts you made in step 8.

18. Add all other remaining details on your map, until it looks professional like the one attached here.

19. Good luck!

Wind is a powerful geomorphic agent shaping Earth’s surface. 🌬️
From erosion (deflation & abrasion) to deposition, it creates unique landforms like yardangs, ventifacts, and sand dunes.
Understanding these helps decode desert landscapes and past climatic conditions.

AI can draft faster, cleaner, and more efficiently than ever before—but surveying has never been just about producing a drawing. When boundaries are challenged and decisions carry legal weight, someone has to stand behind the work. Accountability, judgment, and professional responsibility can’t be automated. The real question isn’t what AI can produce—it’s who is willing and qualified to defend it.
