The clutch fork and fork bearings are components that transmit the separating force and motion to the clutch release bearing. Misalignment and wear on the clutch fork can cause a loss of force/movement, preventing the release bearing from applying sufficient and equal force to the release fingers.
Causes:
📌 Excessive use of half-clutch.
📌 Resting the foot on the clutch pedal after shifting gears.
📌 External substances entering the clutch system, making its operation difficult.
📌 Clutch fork used beyond its service life.
📌 The clutch fork should be checked with every clutch replacement and replaced if necessary.
📌 The movement of the clutch fork within the system should be observed to ensure it is smooth and even.
i. The fork shaft should not be bent or worn.
ii. Bushings and bearing housings should not be worn.
iii. Fork tip bearings should be suitable for the working conditions.
