Happy International ATSEP Day - 12th November.
This day is celebrated by those who ensure the safety of air navigation, who associate night with day, and weeks with months without rest, just to ensure flight safety.
Nobody knew them, and nobody will know them, because they are behind the scenes of the events, role is to present them in order to appreciate their efforts and to thank them even if nobody is known to thank them, just because whatever they do is not out of the ordinary and is their daily.
Their task is to install, calibrate, maintain, supervise and control complex electronic equipment in order to ensure the greatest availability of these technical systems for Communication, Navigation, Surveillance / Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM),
Their specializations vary: communications with aircraft, navigational aids for aircraft that help them know the flight path and help them land or take off safely, radar equipment that detects all aircraft in our space aerial, ...
All these equipments are concentrated in the heights and mountains, on the runways of airports and stations, in airport towers and air navigation centers (ACC): it is their responsibility and their duty, every point in the airspace is under their control.
Technologies evolve, change, every day new challenges, and the important thing is to ensure the highest levels of safety, security, continuity, availability and cybersecurity,
Even the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) gave them the following name:
Air Traffic Safety Electronics Personnel (ATSEP)
Their name was therefore associated with the safety of navigation.
As an ATSEP:
-We certify aviation safety-
-Safe Sky, our responsibility-
-24/24-7/7: The airspace is under our control-
We operate in all areas, whatever the circumstances, at any time, whether it is holidays or public holidays.
In all weathers, heat, humidity or snow,
Our mission is to ensure the safety of air navigation with complete reliability and without leaving room for error,
All points of the sky must be secured,
The ATSEP are the men of the shadows,
The middle link in the air navigation chain, it cannot be cut to catch up with the rest of the rings.
The link between the pilots, the controller, and all those who interfere with any point in the sky,
A safe sky is our responsibility.
" Doc. 10057 - ICAO :
ATSEP are personnel proven competent in the installation, operation and/or maintenance
of a communications, navigation, surveillance/air traffic management (CNS/ATM) system.
1.2.1.2 ATSEP play a significant role in the safe operation of CNS/ATM systems.
1.2.2.1 ATSEP may perform tasks on a wide variety of CNS/ATM systems and equipment
requiring a wide range of competencies, and expertise as well as knowledge and skills
in electronics, computer sciences and networks. In addition, the ATSEP roles to be
carried out may range from technician to high-level engineer. "
November 12th, is ATSEP international day.
Happy International ATSEP Day!
Congratulations to the International Federation of Air Traffic Safety Electronics Associations ( ) and all ATSEPs around the world
Thank you to all the ATSEP in all the countries of the world.
Thank you for your efforts, thank you for your sacrifices.
