Pacifica 44 Build Update: Moulding the Saloon Roof

Construction of the Pacifica 44 saloon roof mould is now underway.

At almost 5 metres wide and up to 8 metres long, this is one of the larger moulds being produced for Hull #1. The process begins with the first tissue layer being laminated over the finished plug, before the remaining laminate and supporting structure are added.

In this short walkthrough, AsOne GM Richard explains what's happening and how the mould will ultimately be used to produce the shaped saloon roof for the Pacifica 44.

Another step forward as Hull #1 continues to take shape.

The Heart of the Pacifica 44 Has Arrived - The FPT N67 engines and ZF marine gearboxes for Pacifica 44 Hull #1 have arrived at our factory.

In this short video, Richard and Robyn introduce the propulsion package and explain some of the thinking behind the decisions that led us to these components. Rather than simply selecting parts that met the required specifications, the focus was on reliability, longevity and creating a propulsion system suited to long-range cruising.

Over the coming weeks we'll be following the installation of the engines and driveline as Pacifica 44 Hull #1 continues to come together.

When a vessel is designed for long-range cruising, the captain’s seat is more than just somewhere to sit.

Extended passages can mean long hours at the helm, making comfort, support and adjustability an important part of the overall onboard experience.

The HA-B-01 captain’s chair selected for the Pacifica 44 prototype has now arrived at the AsOne Yachts office. Manufactured by Shanghai-based marine seating specialist Star Fish, the chair features an aluminium frame, adjustable backrest and armrests, heavy-duty pedestal and footrest, with a customised Pacifica 44 logo embroidered into the fine leather upholstery.

Star Fish supplies marine seating solutions to markets including the United States, Europe and Australia — and now Thailand.

Another piece of the Pacifica 44 coming together, with attention given not only to how far the vessel can travel, but to the experience of the person taking her there.

Yesterday, the full AsOne Yachts team took part in practical CPR and first aid training.

The session covered emergency response, CPR techniques, and essential first aid skills, giving our team practical experience in how to respond when it matters.

In a working boatbuilding factory, safety is not only about equipment and procedures. It also depends on people having the knowledge and confidence to respond effectively in an emergency.

Thank you to everyone involved in delivering the training and to the team for their full participation.

Some of the most important engineering decisions on a boat are the ones you'll never actually see.
One of those is the Python Drive Constant Velocity shaft system that will be fitted to Pacifica 44 Hull #1.
At first glance it looks like just another driveline component. In reality, it plays an important role in how the vessel feels underway.
Rather than transferring the propeller's thrust directly through the gearbox, the Python Drive system isolates those forces, helping to reduce vibration, minimize noise, and make the drivetrain more tolerant of movement and alignment over time.
For us, this wasn't about choosing the most complicated solution—it was about choosing a proven one that contributes to reliability, comfort and long-term durability.
This component is currently awaiting installation and will soon become part of Pacifica 44 Hull #1.

The heart of Pacifica 44 Hull #1 is on its way.

One of the biggest decisions in any long-range cruising boat is the propulsion system.

The FPT N67 engines and ZF marine transmissions selected for Pacifica 44 Hull #1 are currently on their way from Italy and are expected to arrive in Thailand any day now.

After evaluating a range of options, we selected the FPT N67 heavy-duty engines for their mechanical simplicity, proven commercial pedigree and strong low-speed torque. Rather than chasing maximum horsepower, we prioritised reliability, serviceability and long-term durability.

The ZF transmissions have been selected with the same philosophy. Rather than simply matching the engine's output, the propulsion package has been designed with comfortable operating margins to support the continuous-duty nature of the vessel and long-term reliability.

Over the coming weeks we'll follow the journey from arrival in Thailand through to installation as the propulsion system becomes part of Pacifica 44 Hull #1.

Another Tasman 8.0 undergoes its final inspection and preparation for export to Australia.

Before leaving the factory, each vessel passes through a final quality review process to ensure it is ready for delivery to its new owner.
