"10 Years of GROB Poland – a Strong Milestone for Growth and Innovation

As part of an open house event, we celebrated the 10-year anniversary of our subsidiary in Poznań, Poland, together with our customers and partners.

At our Technology & Application Center (TAC), visitors experienced state-of-the-art manufacturing live: Hands-on demonstrations and insightful presentations showcased how maximum efficiency, precision, and digitalization come together in modern production.

Since its founding in 2016, the subsidiary has continuously evolved—from a sales and service location into a powerful technology center with its own application expertise.

The approximately 800 m² application center provides an ideal environment for collaboration, partnership, and developing ideas for the future.

"Ernst Grob was a pioneer, inventor, and passionate engineer. After working for the Swiss commercial vehicle manufacturer Saurer, he took over as head of the training workshop at BMW and led it until he went into business for himself in 1924.

On May 21, 1926, the then 31-year-old Ernst Grob founded the Ernst Grob Tool and Machine Factory in Munich-Sendling. He demonstrated his versatility early on by developing a loom and innovative thread rolling machines, which helped him make a name for himself in the machine tool industry.

In addition to his technical talent, Grob was an avid mountaineer. In 1935, he climbed Mount Kilimanjaro and undertook a trip to India, among other adventures. His innovative spirit was once again evident in 1939 with the development of a process for cold profile rolling of metal parts.

He also mastered the difficult post-war years with optimism, drive, and in close cooperation with his employees. Together, they succeeded in rebuilding the company and securing its continued existence. In the early 1950s, his son Burkhart Grob joined the company, and Ernst Grob returned to Switzerland. There he founded another successful company. His technical curiosity remained with him well into old age: in 1983, at the age of 90, he visited the EMO in Paris to learn about the latest developments in mechanical engineering.

Ernst Grob was not only an entrepreneur but also a man of great social responsibility. His willingness to listen to his employees’ concerns had a lasting impact on the company culture. These values live on to this day in the family-owned company GROB.
