𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘀, 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗱𝗲!

Using multiple permanent magnets for large format steel plate lifting is not advisable. There is no way to control the flux, activation/deactivation requires manually switching ON/OFF multiple times, thin sheets are difficult to handle as multiples of them get attached. Stacking plates at a height requires manpower to clamber up on the stack to. There are too many disadvantages to list.

But then, when life give you lemons, make lemonade at the least, don't throw the lemons away! A project required to make use of existing 1 & 2 Ton permanent magnets which were brand new and lying unused. So the next best thing is to design a spring damping beam structure of lifting capacity upto 20 Tons to suspend the magnets vertically and uniformly in a balanced arrangement.

A load test is a mandatory component of commissioning a large format lifting system such as an electropermanent magnet lifter. A sufficient capacity load is required to be lifted and held for a few minutes to test the zero operating power draw feature while at the same time assign the safe working load of the system.

An electropermanent magnet (EPM) lifting system provides a highly efficient, safe, and reliable method for handling ferrous loads in industrial applications.

The technology integrates permanent magnets with an electromagnetic coil to control the magnetic flux: a short electrical pulse activates or deactivates the magnetic state, while no continuous power is required to maintain the hold. This design eliminates the risk of load drop during power failures, ensuring inherent fail-safe operation.

EPM systems deliver high clamping force with minimal energy consumption, low heat generation, and no need for backup power sources. Their solid-state switching mechanism results in fewer moving parts, reduced maintenance, and extended service life.

The precise control of magnetic activation makes them particularly suitable for applications demanding repeatability, safety, and efficiency, such as steel handling, machining setups, and automated lifting operations.

Unlike traditional electromagnets that require constant power, electropermanent magnets use a brief electrical pulse to switch their magnetic state on or off, meaning no continuous energy is consumed during lifting.

This ensures fail-safe operation, as the load remains securely held even in the event of a power outage. They offer high lifting capacity, precise control, and energy efficiency, while reducing operational costs and heat generation.

With fewer moving parts and no dependence on battery backup, electropermanent lifting systems are also highly durable, reliable, and well-suited for demanding industrial environments where safety, productivity, and sustainability are paramount.
