A noisy HVAC fan is not always an airflow problem. Sometimes, the real issue is vibration.

A fan housing moves.
A duct wall resonates.
A panel radiates sound.
A mounting point transfers energy into the structure.

The challenge is that these effects are often hidden during normal operation.
Traditional measurements can help, but selected points and attached sensors may not show the full vibration behavior of a complex HVAC structure.

So the key question becomes:

Can we see how the structure is actually moving?

Non-contact laser vibration measurement makes this possible.

By measuring surface motion without touching the structure, engineers can visualize how fan housings, ducts, panels, and mounts vibrate under real operating conditions.

This helps connect structural vibration to the noise being heard and turns troubleshooting from guesswork into evidence-based engineering.

For quieter fans, better AHUs, and more reliable simulation validation, making vibration visible is a powerful step forward.

Polytec non-contact vibrometer help HVAC teams see how fan housings, ducts, panels, and other components move under real operating conditions—across the surface, in the relevant direction, and at the frequencies connected to noise.

A great wrap-up to the Advances in MEMS session in Bangkok.

Polytec South-East Asia was glad to be part of this knowledge-sharing program with experts and participants from the semiconductor and advanced electronics community Thai Microelectronics Center - TMEC

As MEMS technology becomes smaller, smarter, and more complex, precise measurement plays an increasingly important role in development, testing, and quality verification.

From fabrication to packaging, every surface, structure, and dynamic behavior can influence device performance and reliability.

Polytec optical measurement solutions support MEMS development through non-contact, high-resolution analysis.

As MEMS continues to advance across semiconductor, automotive, medical, and consumer electronics applications, accurate measurement helps bridge the gap between design and reliable performance.

Measure what matters — even from a distance.

Some vibration targets are 𝘁𝗼𝗼 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵, 𝘁𝗼𝗼 𝗳𝗮𝗿, 𝘁𝗼𝗼 𝗵𝗼𝘁, 𝘁𝗼𝗼 𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿𝗼𝘂𝘀, 𝗼𝗿 simply 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘀.

With Polytec VibroFlex Range, engineers can measure vibration remotely and non-contact from a safe position, without interrupting operation — enabling vibration analysis from 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝟱𝟬𝟬 𝗺 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆.

From bridges and power infrastructure to industrial machinery, hot structures, hazardous zones, and other hard-to-access assets, VibroFlex Range helps teams:

✅ Measure vibration remotely and non-contact
✅ Avoid sensor installation, cabling, and surface preparation
✅ Target small features precisely with the integrated camera and monitor
✅ Collect displacement, velocity, and acceleration data from a safe distance
✅ Support structural health monitoring, condition monitoring, and model validation

When the environment is challenging, the measurement does not have to be.

Many teams know the advantages of optical roughness measurement—yet tactile systems still dominate the shop floor.
Why?
Because switching has often required a higher investment and added complexity.

That is exactly what we set out to change.

With the new Roughness Tester, we offer a compact entry-level solution based on Micro.View, currently available with up to 30% discount. The system is designed with a focus on the essential functions for reliable 3D roughness and texture analysis, without compromising measurement quality:

• Same high-precision sensor head as Micro.View
• ISO 25178 compliant (Sa, Sq, Sz)
• Non-contact: no wear, no surface influence
• Manual or semi-automated operation: easy to use
