Congratulations to our students from the Diploma in Civil Engineering at the School of Architecture & the Built Environment (ABE), on their achievements at the American Concrete Institute ACI Singapore Chapter Concrete Panel Competition 2026! 🏆

This competition challenged IHLs participants to push the boundaries of concrete performance, evaluating their panels based on flexural strength, compressive strength relative to density, and the incorporation of recycled waste materials.

We’re proud to see our students put their knowledge into practice, exploring how material performance and resource recovery can contribute to more sustainable construction.

Wood preservation shouldn’t be a choice between durability and sustainability. At SP AMTC, we've developed lower toxicity alternatives to conventional wood treatments to help protect timber against termites while supporting a more sustainable Built Environment. 🌱

We’re thrilled to see our colleagues Dr. Li Xiaodong and Ms. Lu Yanru featured in Lianhe Zaobao 联合早报, highlighting our collaboration with REDUX SG to explore new possibilities for waste solar panels. Thank you Gary Seah and Jeff Seah for collaborating with SP Advanced Materials Technology Centre (AMTC) on this meaningful project! 🌱

♻️ What happens to the plastic in a discarded air-conditioner?

Under Singapore NEA's Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) scheme for electrical and electronic waste, recovering and recycling materials from end-of-life appliances is an important step towards a more circular economy.

At SP Advanced Materials Technology Centre (AMTC), we're exploring how recycled plastics from components such as air-conditioner housings, fan blades, and coolers can be processed and incorporated into cementitious materials, reducing the use of virgin raw materials while supporting a more circular Built Environment.

Join us as we take you behind the scenes—from shredding and sieving to mixing, casting, curing, and testing—this is technology translation in action.

Because sometimes, innovation isn't about creating something new—it's about creating new value from them. 🌱
