he Teledyne PS500 is a high-performance portable 5 in 1 gas detector engineered to meet the enhanced safety expectations of IMO Resolution MSC.581(110) for entering enclosed spaces aboard ships and offshore units. With its robust design and flexible sensor options, the PS500 provides real-time atmospheric monitoring to help ensure compliance with the latest industry safety guidance and risk-assessment protocols.

The requirements remain consistent with previous minimum requirements as detailed in MSC.1/Circ.1477. Paragraph 8.2 details that personal detectors should measure below
Oxygen (O2)
Carbon dioxide (CO2)
Toxic gases(H2s)
Carbon monoxide (CO)
Flammable gases or vapors (LEL)
Any other gases identified in the risk assessment

Under Singapore’s National Hydrogen Strategy (launched 2022), hydrogen is being positioned as a key low‑carbon energy source.
The vision: by 2050, low‑carbon hydrogen (or hydrogen-derived fuels) could supply up to half of Singapore’s power needs — alongside solar, imported electricity, and other clean energy. The strategy covers not only power generation, but also industry, maritime, aviation, and other sectors where hydrogen can displace fossil fuels.

New hydrogen-ready power plant to be built by 2026 as Singapore seeks greener energy generators

600 MW hydrogen‑ready plant on Jurong Island will begin operations around mid-2020s — to start with a mix (e.g. partly natural gas + hydrogen), with potential to run on more hydrogen over time.
