As we step into the new year, let us take a moment to recognise the team behind our mission.

What started in confined industrial spaces has evolved into advanced aerial robotics serving defence and critical infrastructure. The environments may change — underground, urban, GPS-denied, high-risk — but one thing remains constant: disciplined engineering, relentless testing, and a team that shows up.

This festive season, we celebrate resilience, precision, and partnership.

To our customers in defence and inspection, to our partners, and to the operators who trust our systems in demanding conditions — thank you.

Wishing everyone a year of strength, clarity, and decisive ex*****on ahead. In a more traditional greeting, “Peace, Prosperity, Good Health to one and all!”

Performance Rotors at the Singapore Airshow 🇸🇬

This week, the Performance Rotors team participated in the Singapore Airshow, engaging with regional partners, operators, and defence stakeholders across the APAC ecosystem.

We demonstrated our GPS- and GNSS-denied rotorcraft platforms designed for demanding operational environments and mission-critical defence and security applications.

At the core of these systems is the Xtend Operating System, enabling rapid operator onboarding—training new operators to mission readiness in under 20 minutes — and allowing a single operator to manage multiple heterogeneous UAVs simultaneously across complex mission profiles that traditionally require a full UAV section. When integrated into existing C2/C3 architectures, this capability acts as a force multiplier, enabling scalable control, coordinated tasking, and efficient employment of aerial assets.

Thank you to everyone who visited the booth and took the time to engage in thoughtful technical and operational discussions.

It is my privilege to share that Performance Rotors has received the Total Defence Award, a national recognition of our commitment to Singapore’s safety, resilience, and defence readiness.

This award isn’t just about technology or innovation. It reflects something deeper — our unwavering support for our employees who serve as NSmen. When they get called up, we back them fully. No hesitation, no pushback, no inconvenience narratives. Because supporting reservist duties is not a “nice to have”; it’s a responsibility.

In today’s unpredictable environment, companies that step up make a real difference. When businesses safeguard the time, space, and morale of our NSmen, we strengthen the very foundation that keeps Singapore secure.

There’s an old saying: “先有国,才有家 — A country must first exist before there can be a home.”

This isn’t abstract philosophy; it’s reality. Without safety, stability, and collective defence, nothing else — not growth, not opportunity, not prosperity — can stand.

To the team at Performance Rotors: this award belongs to all of you. Your commitment to service, duty, and excellence is what drives our organisation and contributes to Singapore’s Total Defence.

Onward — responsibly, boldly, and with purpose.

Congratulations to DSTA and the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) on the successful completion of Exercise Wallaby 2025 — a major milestone showcasing the power of technology and teamwork in modern defence operations.

This year’s exercise saw the extensive deployment of drone technologies across multiple mission profiles — from reconnaissance and surveillance to logistics delivery and battlefield communications.

By leveraging unmanned systems, the SAF demonstrated how drones can:

Enhance situational awareness through real-time, high-resolution data collection across wide areas.

Reduce human risk in hazardous or contested environments by taking over dangerous reconnaissance and supply missions.

Accelerate decision-making, with AI-enabled analytics turning drone imagery into actionable intelligence faster than ever before.

Boost operational efficiency, cutting response times and freeing manpower for higher-value tasks.

This integration of cutting-edge autonomous systems reflects a future-ready SAF — one that continues to innovate, adapt, and lead in the responsible use of advanced technology for national defence.

Honoured to Be Recognised by Senior Minister Lee Defence Science and Technology Agency’s 25th Anniversary

We at Performance Rotors are deeply honoured to be mentioned by Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong in his speech at the Defence Science and Technology Agency’s 25th anniversary celebration, alongside fellow home-grown innovators Hope Technick and BeeX.

Being recognised at this level means a great deal to us. It validates the work our team has been doing to push the boundaries of drone technology and inspires us to continue delivering cutting-edge solutions that keep our people safe.

This recognition is more than symbolic — it strengthens our commitment to collaborate even more closely with DSTA and our defence partners to ensure that the Singapore Armed Forces are equipped with the very best technology that a home-grown company can provide.

To our dedicated team: this moment belongs to you. Your hard work, ingenuity, and relentless pursuit of excellence are what made this recognition possible.

We are encouraged, motivated, and ready to keep innovating for Singapore’s future.

Why Leaders Step Out of the Boardroom

Leadership is more than setting strategy from a corner office — it’s about staying connected with the team, the product, and the mission.

As a C-level of a company developing drones for inspection, security, and ISR, spending time with our engineers and pilots on the ground occasionally is essential. Here’s why:

Better Decisions: Seeing real-world challenges firsthand helps leadership make smarter, faster, and more practical decisions.

Stronger Team Culture: Being with the team in the trenches from time to time builds trust, respect, and a shared sense of purpose.

Innovation at the Source: Being there means spotting opportunities for improvement before they’re even on a slide deck.

Customer Empathy: Joining field tests and client demos reminds leadership of what truly matters — delivering solutions that work under real-world pressure.

Morale and Motivation: People work harder and take pride in their work when they know leadership values and understand their contributions.

Leadership isn’t about distance. It’s about presence. Sometimes, the best strategy session is out on the tarmac, watching your technology in action.

Reflections from the Launch of TR138 – A Milestone for Drone Inspection in Industrial Sectors

Yesterday marked a major step forward for the drone inspection industry as we officially launched TR138 – the Technical Reference for the Use of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) for Oil, Gas, Chemical, and Industrial Processing Facilities, and Related Pipeline Corridors, on 16 July 2025.

As someone who started and runs a company focused on using drones for inspection in hazardous and complex industrial environments, it’s been an honour to contribute to this Working Group. TR138 has been long in the making, built on collective experiences from both site operators and UAS professionals—people who are on the ground (or in the air) doing this work daily.

During the panel session, I shared candidly about what today’s drone technology can realistically do—and where it still falls short. There’s a lot of hype in the space, but safety, data integrity, and regulatory compliance demand honest conversations. The industry doesn’t need inflated promises. It needs grounded progress. I appreciated the audience’s energy—your thoughtful questions made it clear this is a space with real momentum.

It was also a privilege to stand alongside passionate professionals like Ho Meng Kho (Technical Committee for Petroleum Processes and Products Chair), Terence Koh (Executive Director, SCIC), and fellow Working Group members including Tiah Nam Kuan, Tan Kien Yong, Wang Wei Foong, and Daniel Tan—all of whom openly shared what it’s like navigating daily operational challenges with drones in critical infrastructure.

Huge appreciation goes to Mark Yong and Daniel Tan, co-conveners on the Working Group, and Rosmalinda Tay, our rock-solid secretariat. TR138 is concise, practical, and built for real-world application—especially for those looking to integrate drones into complex industrial settings.

This is just the beginning. If you’re conducting inspection work in the oil, gas, or chemicals sector and are considering drone deployment, TR138 is your foundation. Let’s continue to raise the standard and ensure drones enhance safety, efficiency, and operational excellence—without losing sight of where the tech truly is today.
