An important step forward for prostate cancer radiotherapy.
ASTRO has published its updated clinical practice guideline on hypofractionated radiation therapy for localized prostate cancer.
Recommendations support moderate hypofractionation across all risk groups and ultrahypofractionation/SBRT as a standard option for many patients.
As prostate radiotherapy continues to move toward shorter treatment courses, accurate treatment delivery and effective motion management remain important considerations.
We welcome this important guideline update and the continued progress toward effective, patient-centered prostate cancer treatment.

ASTRO’s updated guideline recommends moderate hypofractionation over conventional fractionation for patients across all risk groups.
SBRT is now strongly recommended for patients with intermediate-risk disease and those with low-risk disease who decline active surveillance, a change from the conditional recommendation in 2018.
