How to train police drivers for emergency response 🚨

In an emergency response, it’s not just about getting there quickly. Drivers need to stay alert, adapt to changing traffic situations and make the right decisions under pressure. These are skills that need to be trained in realistic and repeatable scenarios.

Scenario-based simulation provides a controlled environment where drivers can make decisions, respond to changing conditions and learn from the outcome.

Our latest Police Car scenario brings several of these situations together in one exercise, including:

🚦 Busy, traffic-light-controlled intersections
🚔 An approaching emergency vehicle at an obstructed intersection
🌫️ Reduced visibility due to fog
🚌 A bus stop in front of a school

Meet Johannes, one of our software developers creating our virtual worlds. A big part of what he works on is taking raw LiDAR data from drone scans, hundreds of millions of points, and turning them into worksites that feel real. The ground topology, the textures, the way things look and behave. Getting the classification right is everything. The more precisely you can answer "what is this thing?", the more accurate the world becomes.

When asked what he'd build without limitations, he didn't hesitate: a large-scale earthmoving environment where soil, mud, water and weather all react naturally to the machines working in them. A site that keeps operators on their toes because conditions change.

And when vacation starts? Johannes is looking forward to travelling, spending time in the sun, and actively avoiding any new projects. Although he might still fine-tune the CNC plasma cutting table he recently built from scratch, including the software that controls it ☀️

Summer is here ☀️
It's a good time to shine a light on some of the people behind Tenstar. First up is Peter Ågren, our Developer of Customer Processes.

Peter's quest is to improve the customers educational/training processes by being a partner implementing the simulators into the organisation. With his extensive experience in this field, his role is about understanding and communicate how our products should be used in real training environments, enabling instructors and educators to get the most out of simulation-based training.

A big part of that work involves TMT, Tenstar's platform for planning, managing, and following up the training process. According to Peter, one of its greatest strengths is helping instructors create structured learning paths while keeping track of each user's progress throughout their education.

As for summer plans? Peter is looking forward to a well-earned break with family and friends, some sunshine and recharging for the months ahead ☀️

There's something about the Swedish summer that's hard to explain until you've experienced it. Long evenings, boat trips through the archipelago, fresh seafood straight from the sea and a slower pace that gives you time to connect ☀️

That made the perfect setting for this year's Tenstar Summer Summit, where our sales team came together to share ideas, exchange experiences, and discuss where we're headed next. It has been great spending these past few days together.

The Skid Steer is one of the most used machines in construction. An all-arounder that looks small but works like a beast. Earthmoving with a bucket, material handling with forks. Two of the most common tasks on any site, now with the physics and terrain to match.

Our Skid Steer Simulator now runs on our improved dirt and soil environment. Real terrain, real machine behavior, built to feel like the actual thing.

Imagine working in a trench when you hear a sound no one wants to experience. The trench is about to collapse. Suddenly everything goes dark.

You take off your VR headset and think: it was just a simulation, but I never want to experience it in real life.

That is why the trench box exists. And that is why knowing how to use it matters.

Together with , we built a simulation around their assembly method. Every step of the installation, done right, before it ever counts for real.

We gathered 100+ years of combined experience in one room 🌟

For three days, teachers and instructors from Sweden and Norway came together to share experiences and push simulation-based training even further. There were many great discussions and the energy was high.

A big thank you to all the participants and speakers. We're leaving with new ideas, new connections, and a shared drive to keep raising the bar.
