Brew Camp 2026 wrap up!
The preparation behind the scenes of any coffee competition is always a bit of a wild ride — for nearly all competitors, it involves a long trip with many suitcases, a lot of bubble wrap and a fair amount of stress. On top of that, there's finding time and space to train, adjusting to local resources and power, and finding your way in a new city with a different language.
For these reasons and many more, three years ago we began offering a 'Brew Camp' (formerly the 'LINK Access Program') with the intention of offering training space and support with roasting, shipping, water and the many other hurdles competitors must overcome. This way, those travelling far distances or with less resources can feel as prepared as possible for the world stage.
For the 2026 edition, over a week prior to the World of Coffee, more than 60 competitors (and their teams) from the World Brewers Cup, World Coffee Roasting Championship and World Coffee in Good Spirits Championship came to train, taste and see other competitors in testing conditions (heatwave, anyone? 😓😓). Despite the heat, it was smiles all around and were are grateful to have been able to help
This would not have been possible without Francois and the team from CAFE CAPITALE Black Potion Avant-garde Roasters — during the hottest week Brussels has ever had, they hosted an insane amount of competitors and went out of their way to make sure everyone was comfortable and hydrated. We cannot express our gratitude enough.
A huge thank you also to Sam and the team from Option-O who provided grinders for competitors to train with — (lack of) access to sponsored equipment is often one of the biggest hurdles to overcome, and your expertise and kindness helped a lot of people feel more comfortable before their stage time.
Finally, thank you to all who came to brew, coach, help, bring by litres of water, or just say hello. The coffee community is incredible, and we certainly don't take it for granted.
