Most ceramic coatings are hydrophobic, which means they make water form small, tight beads on the surface. It looks amazing—but it can also cause water spots if you’re not careful.

When the sun dries up those water beads, they can leave behind mineral marks. If the water has something corrosive in it, it can even etch a ring into the paint, which you’ll need to polish out.

To avoid this, dry your car after washing so those beads don’t have a chance to leave marks.
