يتكوّن المسجد من كتلة رئيسة تضم قاعة صلاة مزدوجة الارتفاع ومصلى للنساء في طابق نصفي، إضافةً إلى منطقة خدمات. وتفصل بين الكتلتين ممرات تقليدية «الساباط» مستوحاة من نسيج الأحياء التاريخية في المبرز والهفوف. كما تضم قاعة الصلاة قاعة زجاجية بانورامية تحتوي على كتب توثق تاريخ المنطقة

‏يستند التصميم إلى أسلوب معاصر يجمع بين تاريخ العمارة المحلية ومستقبلها، مع مئذنة بارتفاع 25 مترًا مستوحاة من الزخارف الجصية في الأحساء. أما الواجهات، فاستُلهمت من الأروقة التقليدية المطلة على بستان ونخلة ومسطح مائي، في إشارة إلى حدائق الأحساء

‏The mosque consists of a main volume with a double-height prayer hall and a mezzanine women’s prayer hall, connected to a smaller service area. Traditional “Sabat” corridors separate the two volumes, inspired by the historic urban fabric of Al-Mubarraz and Al-Hofuf. A panoramic glass hall attached to the prayer hall houses historical books documenting the region

‏The contemporary design connects the history and future of local architecture. A 25-meter-high minaret, inspired by Al-Ahsa’s traditional stucco decorations, forms a prominent landmark. تعمل أفنية على صناعة وتطوير الفضاء المعماري بوصفه جوهر التجربة التصميمية، بحيث يتشكل المكان استجابةً لوظيفة المشروع واحتياجات مستخدميه وخصوصية بيئته.

‏وينطلق التصميم من قراءة عميقة للموقع وسياقه، مع استلهام المفردات المعمارية المحلية وإعادة صياغتها بروح معاصرة، لتصبح جزءًا أصيلًا من تكوين المشروع، بعيدًا عن النقل الحرفي أو المعالجة الشكلية.

‏وتؤمن أفنية بأن الفكرة المعمارية ينبغي أن تنبع من المكان؛ من مناخه وثقافته وذاكرته ونسيجه العمراني، لتنتج فضاءات ذات هوية واضحة، تحقق التوازن بين الأصالة والمعاصرة، وبين الإنسان والعمارة والمكان.

شارك فريق التصميم في أفنية، بالتعاون مع BC Studio من إسبانيا، في مسابقة تصميم مشروع بومخروق، من خلال مقترح معماري يسعى إلى استلهام روح العمارة النجدية وإعادة قراءتها ضمن لغة معاصرة تستجيب لخصوصية الموقع وتحولاته.

‏انطلق التصميم من فهم العمارة النجدية بوصفها منظومة متكاملة من القيم المكانية والمناخية والاجتماعية، وليس باعتبارها مجموعة من العناصر الشكلية أو الزخرفية.

‏ومن هذا المنطلق، عمل الفريق على تأصيل المفردات النجدية وإعادة تخليقها بما يتلاءم مع طبيعة الموقع وبرنامجه وتطوره، مع المحافظة على العلاقة بين الكتلة والفراغ، والظل والنور، والانفتاح والخصوصية.

‏وقد سعى المقترح إلى إيجاد توازن بين الذاكرة المعمارية للمكان ومتطلبات الحاضر، بحيث يبدو المشروع امتدادًا طبيعيًا للعمارة النجدية، لا محاكاة حرفية لها، وليعبّر عن هوية محلية قادرة على التطور والاستمرار ضمن سياق معماري معاصر.

‏Afniah’s design team, in collaboration with BC Studio, Spain, participated in the Boumakhrouq Design Competitionwith an architectural proposal that sought to reinterpret the spirit of Najdi architecture through a contemporary language responsive to the character, context, and evolving nature of the site

‏The design approach was rooted in understanding Najdi architecture not merely as a collection of visual or decorative elements, but as an integrated system of spatial, climatic, and social values. From this perspective, the team worked to reinterpret and regenerate traditional Najdi architectural principles, adapting them to the site conditions, programmatic requirements, and future development while preserving the essential relationships between mass and void, light and shadow, openness and privacy

‏The proposal aimed to establish a meaningful balance between the architectural memory of the place and contemporary needs, allowing the project to emerge as a natural evolution of Najdi architecture rather than a literal imitation of its forms

‏In doing so, the design sought to express a strong local identity capable of evolving, adapting, and remaining relevant within a contemporary architectural contex

في إطار تعزيز التعاون البحثي وتبادل الخبرات الدولية، استقبلت أفنية معماريون ومهندسون، ممثلةً بـ أفنية+ ومركز الدراسات والبحوث، الباحث والمؤرخ الأمريكي Arthur Clark، الذي أمضى أكثر من عقدين من الزمن باحثًا وكاتبًا في مجلة Saudi Aramco World، وأسهم خلال مسيرته العلمية في إعداد العديد من الدراسات والأبحاث المتخصصة في تاريخ المملكة العربية السعودية ومنطقة الخليج وتراثهما الثقافي.

‏وشهد اللقاء حوارًا علميًا تناول عددًا من الموضوعات المرتبطة بالتوثيق التاريخي، والعمارة، والتراث الثقافي، كما ناقش الجانبان آفاق التعاون المستقبلي في مجالات البحث العلمي، والتوثيق، وإنتاج الدراسات المتخصصة، بما يسهم في تطوير مشاريع معرفية مشتركة ذات أثر علمي وثقافي.

‏As part of its commitment to advancing research collaboration and fostering international knowledge exchange, Afniah Architects & Engineers, represented by Afniah Plus and the Research & Studies Center, welcomed the American researcher and historian Arthur Clark, who spent more than two decades as a researcher and writer for Saudi Aramco World magazine. Throughout his distinguished career, he has contributed extensively to the study and documentation of the history and cultural heritage of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Gulf region

عقد مجلس إدارة شركة أفنية معماريون ومهندسون اجتماعه النصفي برئاسة المهندس حمد بن ناصر الشقاوي، رئيس مجلس الإدارة، وبحضور أصحاب السعادة أعضاء مجلس الإدارة، وذلك لمراجعة أداء الشركة خلال النصف الأول من العام، ومتابعة تنفيذ مستهدفاتها الاستراتيجية، واستعراض خططها المستقبلية.

تُعد العمارة المكسيكية الحديثة نموذجاً استثنائياً في تحقيق التوازن بين الهوية والحداثة، حيث قدمت لغة معاصرة تستند إلى الموروث دون تقليد أو قطيعة مع الماضي. واخترنا هذه التجربة لما بينها وبين العمارة السعودية من تشابه في المناخ، البيئة العمرانية، والمبادئ التصميمية كالخصوصية، والكتلة الصلبة، والفراغ الداخلي، والتعامل مع الضوء والظل، والمواد الطبيعية، مما يربط المبنى بالمكان والإنسان.

‏Modern Mexican architecture offers an exceptional balance between identity and modernity, drawing on heritage without imitating or rejecting the past. We selected this experience for its parallels with Saudi architecture in climate, urban context, privacy, solid massing, inward-oriented spaces, light and shadow, and natural materials, all of which connect architecture with place and people.

‏Luis Barragán, the spiritual father of this movement, shaped a local modernity inspired by traditional architecture, color, gardens, solid walls, and contemplative spaces. His work shows that authenticity comes not from repeating historical forms, but from understanding and reinterpreting their principles, making the Mexican experience a valuable inspiration for a contemporary Saudi architecture rooted in its identity.

‏Rooted in the authenticity of place, the project presents a contemporary architectural vision that extends local architecture by reinterpreting its principles and expressing them through a modern and innovative language that preserves cultural identity while responding to contemporary living requirements

The residences are distinguished by their unique architectural composition, sequence of masses, proportions, and spatial relationships, as well as the thoughtful application of key principles of traditional Arabic architecture through internal courtyards, the interplay of light and shadow, privacy, and spatial progression.
