Example of inspected System by Ambidetector. Case spares and repairs were swift and downtime minimal. Standard within inspection Time & Date, Suction Pump, Pressure Switch, Air Filter, Flow Meter, Input Unit, Sensors, Simulation tests, Alarms, Buzzers, Zero Adjustment and Span Adjustment are checked when present. Three way 15 ppm Arrangement

Good afternoon.
Following request from Costumer Vessel Ambidetector has commuted onboard to perform services of inspection for a 15ppm Fellow Kogyo Focas-2000.
With no previous warning and after several corrective measures and interventions our technicians onboard reported that unit was not working correctly.
Under test Monitor was not zeroing nor reading the 15ppm +/-5ppm using accuracy test provided by Maker for Approved Companies. This means that when in discharge ppm count could be higher than permitted and still unit would not sound alarm and stop discharge as mandatory.
All involved parties were put up to date and issue was discussed with Superintendent and Surveyor who as foreseeing the intervention.
Decision was then made for the Measuring cell of the 15ppm be replaced and in moments unit was again fully operational to everyone’s satisfaction.
Because everyone maintained good feedback and respect complete operation elapsed almost uneventfully and schedule was maintained for Vessel.
This is paramount to all involved parties as no additional downtime was created.

Fellow Kogyo Focas-1800 is an excellent unit. Using a full optical continuous measuring method, the unit can surely grasp changes of oil concentration every moment while providing a very quick measurement response. Even though 15ppm Monitor Unit is MEPC 107(49), cell unit is not interchangeable between Focas-1800. Please refer to Maker or Approved Agents for any information requirements. The accuracy of the 15 ppm Bilge Alarms should be checked at IOPP Certificate renewal surveys according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Alternatively the unit may be replaced by a calibrated 15 ppm Bilge Alarm. The calibration certificate for the 15 ppm Bilge Alarm, certifying date of last calibration check, should be retained onboard for inspection purposes. The accuracy checks can only be done by the manufacturer or persons authorized by the manufacturer.
