November 24, 2024, the wind blew in favor of sustainability: Portugal achieved a new historic record, with 110.4 GWh of wind energy produced in just one day! This represents an incredible 86% of national electricity consumption supplied by clean energy.

And it didn't stop there! 🚀 The country also recorded the highest ever use of hydroelectric pumping, with 41.7 GWh - a true example of how we can balance the production and storage of renewable energy.

🌱 The future of energy is now!

🔋💨 Propeller or Generator? The question that confuses many people about wind energy!

I recently took a quiz on wind energy and noticed that many people chose “Generator” as the answer to the question:

👉 “What is the main component of a wind turbine that converts wind into electricity?”

The correct answer was “Propeller or blades”, but why does this confusion occur? 🤔

The explanation is simple:

1️⃣ The propellers (or blades) capture the kinetic energy of the wind and transform it into rotational movement.
2️⃣ This movement is transferred to the generator, which converts the mechanical energy into electricity.

In other words, if the question was “Which component generates electricity?”, the correct answer would be the generator. But since we're talking about the initial conversion of wind energy, the propellers are the key! ⚡
