We went back to our “mini selves” this Children’s Day.
Mexters shared childhood photos and one thing became clear: the boldness was already there, long before we knew what to call it.

No limits. No fear of trying.

And today? We’re glad we’ve grown.
But even more so that we never lost that part of us the one that keeps believing, testing, and reinventing.

Happy Children’s Day.
The child in us doesn’t ask for permission: it moves forward.

Meaningful innovation does not happen in silos. It is built at the intersection of industry, technology, entrepreneurship and collaboration.

It was within this context that MEXT took part in SIM Conference 2026, reinforcing its position as Mota-Engil’s innovation orchestrator and incubator, while further strengthening its connection to the innovation and startup ecosystem.

MEXT’s participation also included a reverse pitch delivered by Francisco Morais Lopes, where we reflected on MEXT’s role as Mota-Engil’s innovation platform, driving initiatives across Innovation, Corporate VC and Venture Building as instruments for transformation, value creation and closer engagement with the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

More than simply following trends, we believe in creating the conditions for innovation to happen with impact, scale and relevance.

The 1st episode of ‘What’s MEXT?’ is now available.

Mext: Mota-Engil Next new podcast has been created to explore innovation from the outside in and how different perspectives from the outside of Mota-Engil can inspire new ways of thinking and acting in our Group.

In this episode, we talk to Volis (a start-up invested by MEXT) about the intersection between corporate innovation and entrepreneurial spirit.

We discuss:
- Data and advanced analytics
- Artificial intelligence
- Real-world challenges in decision-making
- Lessons learnt in the field

An exchange of perspectives on decisions, challenges and lessons learnt, with context, clarity and openness.

To mark World Creativity and Innovation Day, we travelled between the markets of Portugal and Angola, where we explored an integrated perspective on the role that innovation plays at Mota-Engil.

In this video, we bring together the perspectives of Carlos Mota-Santos, Chairman and CEO of the Mota-Engil, Manuel Mota, Vice‑CEO and Deputy Mota‑Engil, Sílvia Mota, CEO of MEXT: Mota Engil Next, and Rui Coutinho, CIO of MEXT: Mota Engil Next, to reflect on innovation as one of the key enablers of Focus 2030: driven by people, guided by the ambition to do better, and supported by an integrated system that transforms intention into concrete action.

From identifying opportunities to corporate culture, from strategic vision to ex*****on, innovation reveals itself as a continuous and collective movement, deeply rooted in the way the organisation operates. A movement that has consistently shaped its path and is reflected in the real impact of its choices.

On 12 April, .motaengilnext promoted the “Corrida sempre Mulher” in Lisbon, offering 50 registrations to the .group

It was a 5 km run filled with energy, team spirit, and a great sense of togetherness. Through shared moments and meaningful connections among colleagues, we experienced an inspiring and positive initiative that truly reflects who we are: innovation, proximity, and impact.

This initiative held an even greater significance. Our participation contributed to supporting the APAMCM - “Associação Portuguesa de Apoio à Mulher com Cancro da Mama “ (Portuguese Association for the Support of Women with Breast Cancer), reinforcing the importance of every step taken for a cause that makes a real difference in the lives of thousands of people.

Thank you to everyone who took part and represented us with enthusiasm and purpose.

We now continue this journey in Porto, where we will come together again in May, with the same spirit, the same energy, and the same purpose.

Because when we move forward together, every step becomes even more meaningful.

For the second consecutive year, .motaengilnext took part in — the largest university innovation hackathon in Portugal — strengthening the .group connection to the academic ecosystem and to emerging talent through challenges with real‑world application for the future of cities.

Our participation included sponsorship, mentoring, and jury involvement, bringing together teams from ME Global, .motaengil , and MEXT in a genuinely collaborative and cross‑cutting approach to innovation. In the Future of Urban Living category, we were represented on the jury by Margarida Barbosa, Head of Sustainability at MEXT, and António Roque, Head of IT at Mota‑Engil.

TecStorm generated value across three key dimensions:
• Learning, through direct contact with multidisciplinary teams and early‑stage solutions;
• Exposure to applied innovation, focused on solving real problems
• Strengthening ecosystem connections, bringing the Group closer to university talent and new pathways for future innovation.

This edition produced five finalist projects, with the winning project — O.A.S.I.S, centred on safety on site — addressing one of the Group’s strategic priorities. For us, TecStorm stands as a privileged space for observation and experimentation.

For the Group, this continued participation reinforces the alignment between open innovation and real‑world impact.
