Small steps can lead to major achievements. ⚙️🌊

TecnoVeritas' new design for an Unmanned Oceanic Patrol Vessel , developed to deliver greater power, autonomy and operational capability.

A key component is the new , fully designed and developed by our Naval Engineering . The system transfers power from the vertical drive shaft to the horizontal propeller shaft, requiring precise alignment to ensure reliability, performance and accessibility for future maintenance.

The propulsion plant combines a high-voltage electric system, a large-capacity battery and a dual-fuel diesel–hydrogen generator.

Depending on its configuration, the UOPV Design 2 can carry a payload of 3 tonnes or more and operate at sea for up to 6 months. Its payloads can include UAVs for aerial reconnaissance and ROVs for inspecting subsea cables and other underwater infrastructure.

By developing the mission software, propulsion system and PODs in-house, TecnoVeritas controls the integration of the UOPV’s key technologies — transforming engineering expertise into autonomous maritime capability.

The decarbonisation of the blue economy is already under way — and it requires practical solutions, measurable results and a long-term vision. 🌊
From 21 to 25 September, the Port of Leixões hosts Porto Maritime Week 2026, promoted by TRANSPORTES & NEGÓCIOS, bringing together key stakeholders to discuss the challenges and opportunities shaping the maritime and port sectors.

On 23 September at 16:30, Dr Jorge Antunes, CEO of TecnoVeritas – Services of Engineering and Systems Technology, will participate in the panel “Decarbonisation Progress in the Blue Economy Sector”.

Maritime is already reshaping shipping companies' commercial and operational decisions. Since 2025, the Regulation has required a 2% reduction in the average intensity of the energy used on board, compared with the reference value of 91.16 gCO₂eq/MJ.
This is only the beginning. The required reduction rises to 6% in 2030, 14.5% in 2035, 31% in 2040, 62% in 2045 and 80% by 2050. 💨

These increasingly demanding targets show why compliance cannot be approached as a one-year reporting exercise. Shipowners need a long-term pathway combining accurate operational data, independent verification, energy-efficiency measures and the progressive integration of renewable and low-carbon fuels.
