𝗣𝗮𝗹𝗯𝗶𝘁. 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗮 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲.

For many who've walked through our doors, Palbit became a home. A place for growing, belonging, and staying, sometimes for a lifetime.

For 110 years, every milestone we've reached carries a little of their story: their dedication, their knowledge, their hands.

To celebrate, we decided to share our history through the eyes of some of the people who helped shape this legacy. Watch our anniversary video for a glimpse into their view of Palbit.

𝟭𝟭𝟬 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀. 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝙋𝙖𝙡𝙗𝙞𝙩 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺?

Our journey began in 1916 in Palhal, under the name 𝘔𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘴 𝘦 𝘔𝘦𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘶𝘳𝘨𝘪𝘢, with mining operations at its core. Over time, that expertise expanded into the rock tools business, and almost 50 years later, the integration of production lines for tungsten powders and carbide blends laid the foundation for what would become our cutting tools business.

That's when the 𝘗𝘢𝘭𝘣𝘪𝘵 name emerged, to eternalize our origin.
▪ 𝗣𝗮𝗹, from Palhal, the place where it all started.
▪ 𝗕𝗶𝘁, from the mining tools, that shaped us from the start.

This year, we celebrate 110 years, a milestone that honors our past and drives us forward, committed to push the boundaries of manufacturing through continuous innovation.

On this anniversary, we want to bring you more of our journey, our culture, and the people who've been part of our history. Stay tuned!

Sustainable engineering starts with the people willing to rethink how things are built.

"Atlântico", developed by the FEUP Academic Solar Team (FAST), is the first solar boat prototype made by students with a hull built entirely from natural fibres.

Founded in November 2023 by students of the Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto, FAST brings together engineers from multiple disciplines with a shared goal: proving that maritime mobility can be sustainable without compromising performance.

Palbit has been part of that journey, proudly supporting the team during the last two years. Among the support provided, our contribution has included solutions for machining aluminium components, as well as composite parts. This collaboration reflects Palbit's ongoing commitment to innovation and sustainability, and to the education of the engineers who will shape the industries of tomorrow.

This year, Atlântico takes on its biggest test yet, Invocatio, a 16-stage, roughly 800km expedition down the Portuguese coast. 🌊

Good luck to the entire FAST team on this journey!

Welcoming EPMA PM Summer School for a Close Look at Powder Metallurgy! 🔬

Palbit welcomed more than 30 participants from across the world for an afternoon dedicated to powder metallurgy.

From raw materials and production processes to coating technologies, the visit provided a behind the scenes look at the expertise, innovation and precision behind every Palbit tool.

Our sincere thanks to the European Powder Metallurgy Association (EPMA) and to all participants for their enthusiasm and engagement throughout the visit. It was a privilege to welcome them to our headquarters.

Over the past four weeks, Palbit welcomed Miguel Moledo Paredes, an engineering student from the University of Vigo (Spain), as part of an international academic programme.

Working alongside Tomás Aires, Palbit’s application engineer, and wider engineering team, Miguel experienced first-hand the development of prototype cutting tools for titanium machining, designed for aerospace applications.

For Palbit, initiatives like this go beyond sharing technical expertise. They strengthen the connection between industry and the academy, encourage international collaboration and contribute to preparing the next generation of engineers.

From Lisbon to Brussels, Palbit was present at the AED Days, organised by AED Cluster Portugal, and at the Portuguese Industry Day with NATO, organised by idD Portugal Defence in partnership with the Permanent Delegation of Portugal to NATO.

By bringing together international leaders, companies and specialists to debate the challenges shaping the Aerospace and Defence sectors, these events open direct access to key decision-makers and organisations, creating the conditions to build meaningful industry relationships.

As a company committed to these markets, Palbit's presence at these events is not coincidental. These are among the most demanding industries when it comes to manufacturing requirements and it is precisely in that level of demand that Palbit finds its place. We are making a consistent investment in our representation in order to build relationships with the companies, institutions, and industry leaders shaping the future of these sectors.

🌍 On World Environment Day, we have something meaningful to share.

In the year we celebrate 110 years, we announce the installation of a new self-consumption solar unit at our manufacturing facility in Albergaria-a-Velha, Portugal. Alongside our existing installation, we now generate solar energy equivalent to 53% of our total electricity consumption - more than half the energy behind every tool we produce, coming directly from the sun.

This milestone represents:
🌱 3.8 million kWh generated annually across ~5,400 photovoltaic panels
🌱 1,792 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent avoided per year
🌱 The carbon absorption equivalent of more than 11,100 trees

Manufacturing excellence defines not only how we engineer our tools, but also how we manage our resources. This is part of a long-term commitment to decarbonising our industrial activity, step by step.
