Description:
Clean Ocean Initiative is currently hiring an Marine Electrician to work in the Chickasaw vessel. This position install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures in a vessel. Ensure that work is in accordance with relevant codes. Performs complex electrical service and repair tasks on a barge utilizing various power and hand-tools, meeting budget and schedule. Ability to install complete electrical/electronic systems.

Responsibilities:
• Plan layout of construction, installation, or repairs.
• Install electrical components, equipment, or systems.
• Test electrical equipment or systems to ensure proper functioning.
• Inspect electrical or electronic systems for defects.
• Create construction or installation diagrams.
• Repair electrical equipment.
• Thread wire or cable through ducts or conduits.
• Train Electrician Assistant.
• Very high frequency radio maintenance
• GPS maintenance
• Panels maintenance:
o Oversee pressure, temperatures, breakers
o Battery charge and humidity
• Preventive maintenance of:
o Refrigeration
o Air conditions
• Vessel load and unload support.
• Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Technical or Expert Electricians Assistant License from Puerto Rico or United States.
• Able to speak, write and read in both English and Spanish
• Willing to Travel/ Offshore
• TWIC card
• Current Passport (not less than 3-months to expiration)
• Not prone to motion sickness (seasickness)
• Pass the drug test
Work Hours:
Eight (8) hours per day, five (5) days a week for a total of forty (40) hours per week.
Location:
Ponce, PR and offshore.
Work Environment:
• Long working hours expected to be performed in the vessel. Some work areas may contain rough surfaces with uneven, wet or slippery floors. Must adjust and cope with exposure to weather elements, noisy environment, rough seas and unpredictable circumstances. Works indoors in areas exposed to external weather conditions and works outdoors: in all types of weather.
Physical Demands:
Requires prolonged standing, walking over wet, slippery and uneven floors, and recurring bending, reaching, lifting and carrying of items weighing from 40-60 pounds on an occasional basis and 5-30 pound on a frequent basis. Sitting, Standing, Walking, Crouching, Kneeling/Crawling, Stooping, Twisting, Climbing, Balancing Leg/Foot Use (To repetitively operate machine controls), Reaching, Handling/Grasping, Fingering/Feeling, Pushing/Pulling, Lifting/Carrying, and other similar physical demands.
