La Competencia Nacional Estudiantil del Puente de Acero (NSSBC) desafía a equipos de estudiantes universitarios para diseñar y fabricar un puente de acero en escala 1:10 el cual debe ser liviano, estructuralmente eficiente, estéticamente agradable, fácil de ensamblar y rígido. Las reglas de la competencia son provistas por la ASCE y varían cada año basándose en especificaciones estructurales y reg
lamentos de construcción. Los estudiantes ganan experiencia práctica en las áreas de diseño estructural, análisis estructural, gerencia de proyectos y técnicas de fabricación, ademas de desarrollar sus habilidades de trabajo en equipo y comunicación. El equipo de la UPRM ha demostrado ser uno de los mejores competidores a nivel nacional, ganando altos reconocimientos gracias al esfuerzo y dedicación de todos sus miembros así como también a la ayuda brindada por sus auspiciadores, los cuales son la clave del éxito de este equipo. The National Student Steel Bridge Competition (NSSBC) challenges student teams to design and fabricate a 1:10 scale steel bridge, which has to be lightweight, structurally efficient, easy to assemble, aesthetically pleasing and stiff. The rules of the competition are provided by the ASCE and vary each year based on structural specifications and building codes. Students gain practical experience in the areas of structural design, structural analysis, project management and manufacturing techniques, along with developing their teamwork and communication skills. The UPRM team has proven to be one of the top competitors at a national level, winning top honors thanks to the efforts and dedication of all its members as well as the assistance provided by their sponsors, which are key to the success of this team.
