I know writing is not easy. I know it takes time. And I know… it’s not paid. ✍️
But some stories need to be told anyway. 🌍

A woman walks through a city differently. 🚶‍♀️
She notices the dark corner of the street, the broken footpath while holding a child’s hand 👩‍👧, the long walk to a bus stop 🚌, the park where she wonders if it’s safe to sit alone 🌳. She experiences the city not just as a resident, but as a daughter, a mother, a caregiver, a neighbour.

She carries many roles — and because of that, she often thinks for everyone. 🤍
Yet many of these everyday experiences of cities remain unwritten, undocumented, unheard. 📖

What if we start writing them? ✨
What if the stories of women about their neighbourhoods, streets, parks, markets, and daily journeys begin to shape how we think about cities? 🏙️

Through Women in Urban Planning – an initiative by City Pulse, we invite you to share your reflections on urban life. 🌱

✨ Just 500–550 words
✨ In English or Urdu

Your story may seem small — but it could help us rethink cities for all. 🌏
Because when women write about cities, they are rarely writing just for themselves.
They are writing for everyone. 🤝

🌱 Urban farming is not just an activity; it is a necessity for sustainable cities. It strengthens self-growing, self-sufficient communities by reconnecting people with food systems, shared responsibility, and local resources.

During 2024–2025, City Pulse launched a focused Urban Farming campaign, highlighting how everyday urban spaces (rooftops, balconies, vacant plots, kitchens, and shared courtyards) can be transformed into productive, climate-responsive assets. The campaign emphasized that sustainable cities are built not only through infrastructure, but through community participation and stewardship.

The actions shared across these posts (community kitchen gardens, repurposing old containers, vertical gardening, seed banks, small-pot growing, and rooftop farming) were strongly advocated by . in her article, where she emphasized urban farming as a practical pathway toward food resilience, environmental responsibility, and inclusive neighborhood development.

It is encouraging to see that many of these ideas are now visible globally. Cities like Singapore are implementing edible walls, shared green spaces, and vertical food systems—approaches that closely align with the solutions earlier highlighted by Dr. Khydija and amplified through City Pulse’s campaign.

For Pakistan’s cities, the opportunity is immense. With abundant rooftops, unused plots, household containers, schools, and community spaces, urban farming can help address food security, climate adaptation, social cohesion, and healthier urban living—starting at the neighborhood level.

🌿 City Pulse believes urban planners must think like urban farmers; cultivating not only land, but trust, care, and belonging.
Because the future of urban Pakistan lies not only in what we build, but in what we allow to grow.

How can we integrate food production in our living environment in the era of climate change, rapid urbanization food insecurity?

Have you ever pondered:
