Instrumentation Centre:
A state of the art Instrumentation Centre is functioning at the University which was established under a grant provided by the Higher Education Commission (H.E.C.). Its capabilities include calibration of multi meters, energy meters, pressure/ temperature gauges, water quality and flow, etc. The Centre has well equipped facilities and the necessary expertise for performing
calibration activities not only for departments within but for organisations outside the University as well. It also provides training to Undergraduate and Postgraduate students, and assists Undergraduate students in undertaking final year projects of various disciplines. The Centre comprises of various well equipped Laboratories such Electronics and Signals Lab, Pressure and Temperature Lab, Equipment Testing Lab, Water Quality and Flow Testing Lab and a Virtual Instrumentation Lab. In particular, the Virtual Instrumentation Lab is equipped with world renowned National Instruments’ (NI) Labview system which helps engineers in basic data acquisition and signal processing as well as more complex embedded monitoring and control applications. For formal classroom lectures, a small but well equipped Training Facility also exists. The Centre aims at becominng a regional leader in the field of test and calibration. The first step towards that is the ISO 17025 accreditation. The process of accredition has already begun and will be completed soon. Once accredited, the Cenre will be at par with any international testing lab. After accreditation, the Instrumentation Centre will start providing testing and calibration services to industries and organisations in and around Karachi. It will also start serving as a training centre for instrument engineers. The NED University lays emphasis on efforts in contribution towards research and improvement in quality of its human resource by providing good and up-to-dated facilities for utilisation by its student, academicians and researchers. The Instrumentation Centre is one such significatn effort.
