Refrigeration & Air conditioning

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
Under general supervision, supervises and participates in the installation, maintenance and repair of
electrical service, air conditioning, heating, refrigeration and ventilation systems; and performs related work
as required.. Supervision is received from a Building Maintenance Supervisor. Supervision is exercised over HVAC
Mechanics and personnel on assigned projects. REPRESE

NTATIVE DUTIES
The following duties are typical for positions in this classification. Any single position may not perform all of these
duties and/or may perform similar related duties not listed here:
1. Provides courteous and expeditious customer service to the general public and City department staffs.
2. Supervises and participates in skilled maintenance and repair of electrical service, air conditioning,
refrigeration, heating and ventilation systems; maintains records of parts and materials used;
estimates and orders materials and equipment.
3. Reads blueprints and layout plans for installation repair and modification work; contacts vendors and
manufacturers in the resolution of difficult repair problems.
4. Evaluates and trains subordinate personnel; reviews and maintains employee labor records; inspects
work in progress and upon completion.
5. Establishes a preventive maintenance program for electrical systems, air conditioning, refrigeration
and heating equipment; works closely with other maintenance and trades personnel to determine and
coordinate repair and modification needs; prepares and maintains records, correspondence and
reports.
6. Routinely adheres to and maintains a positive attitude towards City and Department goals; and
performs related work as required.
