The Interventional Endoscopy Consortium (IEC) Workshop successfully held the first leg of its three regional workshops last May 22–23 at Seda Manila Bay.

The workshop aimed to provide practical and skills-based learning through expert-led lectures, live demonstrations, and supervised hands-on sessions guided by esteemed faculty members. The event was attended by selected end users from the Philippines, Thailand, and India, creating a collaborative and enriching learning experience across the region.

This successful event would not have been possible without our esteemed faculty members: Prof. Amit Maydeo and Dr. Naveen Polavarapu from India; Dr. Sandy Cabral-Prodigalidad and Dr. Mark De Lusong from the Philippines; and A/Prof. Pradermchai Kongkam, A/Prof. Nonthalee Pausawasdi, and Dr. Hathaiwan Moungthard from Thailand.

Special thanks as well to Boston Scientific, Grandline Medical, and R Zero Inc. for their invaluable support and contribution to the success of this workshop.

The 2026 Basic Endoscopy Skills Training (BEST) – Lower GI Endoscopy Workshop was successfully held last April 27–28, 2026 at St. Luke’s Medical Center – Global City. Recognized as the country’s largest annual digestive endoscopy workshop since 2024, the program was specifically designed for incoming second-year fellows-in-training, focusing on the fundamental principles and hands-on techniques of colonoscopy, including both diagnostic and therapeutic applications.

Over the two-day workshop, 45 participants engaged in interactive, simulation-based learning sessions using advanced endoscopic models, further strengthening their clinical skills and practical experience in lower GI endoscopy.

We were honored to have been part of this successful and meaningful learning initiative.
