With a proud and distinguished history spanning 40 years, Makati Development Corporation (MDC) has built a solid reputation for market excellence. MDC is known in the Philippine construction industry as the premier Filipino Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Construction Management (EPC/CM) company that transformed Makati into a world-class financial and commercial district, changing the P
hilippine landscape at par with the world’s best. MDC began to set its roots in the 1950s, wherein the company was known as the Real Estate Development (RED) Group, a mere construction division of Ayala Corporation. However, in 1974, following the transformation of Makati, MDC became an independent identity that was engaged in subdivision and public infrastructure development. It was during this time when MDC undertook the engineering, design and construction of Ayala Alabang Village – the country’s first premier residential community and one of MDC’s first construction milestones. MDC eventually ventured into the international construction scene as it built two hospitals abroad – the Najaf and Kadhimiya Hospitals in Iraq, as well as the Palace of the Sultan of Brunei Darussalam. In the 1980s, MDC underwent a merger with the Ayala Realty Development Corporation and eventually became a subsidiary and construction arm of Ayala Land, Inc. In 2003, MDC became the first construction company in the Philippines to simultaneously receive world class integrated ISO Certifications for the Integrated Management System; and for its consistent compliance to its requirements, MDC was re-certified to three integrated ISO Standards: ISO 9001: 2008, OSHAS 18001: 2007, and ISO 14001: 2004. As Ayala Land began to develop large-scale, master planned, fully-integrated and sustainable developments, MDC realized the need to evolve and strengthen its capabilities in order to serve all its customers’ requirements.
2011 became a banner year for MDC as the company underwent a massive reorganization and rebranding. MDC merged with ALI’s Construction Management Division and became a full-scale EPC/CM company. The transformation saw the birth of three new subsidiaries, MDC BuildPlus, Inc. catering the MDC’s housing and medium-rise development projects, MDC ConQrete, Inc. which manages the supply and delivery of MDC’s Ready Mixed Concrete requirements, and MDC Equipment Solutions, Inc. which manages MDC’s equipment operations. MDC also launched its modernization program, which saw the company invest over P800 million worth of technologies and systems upgrades. MDC increased its equipment fleet by 17%, launched seven (7) concrete batching plants serving MDC’s RMC requirements across the nation, invested in state-of-the-art building systems such as Formworks and Precast to ensure that all projects are delivered on time and with utmost Quality, and pioneered the use of engineering technologies such as the Building Information Modeling (BIM). Now building towards the Vision of becoming a “World Class, Builder of Choice” – MDC operates under the values of Safety, Quality, Timely Delivery and Cost Efficiency. For over four decades, MDC has built-up an impressive track record which includes residential and commercial development, building and industrial construction, roads and infrastructure, water treatment plants, engineering design and related technical services, construction procurement, equipment operations, ready-mixed concrete production, building systems, landscaping and horticulture, and construction management services. MDC’s most recent projects include the U.S. Embassy Manila New Office Annex (MNOX), the Ayala Center Redevelopment Projects in Makati and Cebu, Circuit Makati, St. Luke’s Medical Center, Anvaya Cove and Nuvali, to name a few. MDC is the BUILDER OF CHOICE!
