"SIMBO"
I just want to share this because I'm really proud of this tradition of ours and I believe that it is really unique.
Every New Year’s midnight, our barangay lights up - not just with fireworks, but with Simbo.
Along the roadside of Brgy. Cutang Cawayan, Santa Teresita, Batangas, bamboo torches are placed in front of every home, prepared by the Barangay Official and with the help of fellow residents of barangay. At exactly 12:00 AM, each household lights their own Simbo in front of their houses, and suddenly the whole street glows with fire and warmth. 🔥
I’ve grown up seeing this tradition year after year. Our simple way of welcoming the new year together as one community, it is so beautiful and meaningful. As the fireworks light the sky, the Simbo lights our road, reminding us of unity, hope, and shared beginnings.
Grateful to witness and be part of a very beautiful tradition that continues to live on.
