How can we design our Columns if 30% of Rebars is the number of our Anchor bolts? We suggest to check every plane therein of our column's sections since we have upper & lower limit for the steel-to-concrete ratio🙂. At least these maintain the ductility of the sections.🙂

Considering the presence of anchor bolts in the column section, the rebars is first to yield than the failure mechanism of anchor bolt with the concrete.🙂

Pag maliit na bagay minsan nawawalan na ng gana.😞 Pero pano mo ikakabit yung structural bolts mo kung hindi mo alam ang tamang length neto? Tapos kapos pla ang threads...ngayon sanda mak-mak yung washers mo🙂 cost din yun sa dami ng bolt mo😥

In the drawing shown, the highlighted is the tower segment that you should be able to adjust its slenderness factor to the axes in consideration. The key design here is that the legs of that segment are not node-to-node length, but rather the legs of the whole segment. We believed that these were broken down into multiple beams in the geometric process from software's design. If you haven't adjusted the parameter for "Kx, Ky & Kz" like if you're using the software(s); this will go up to 125% or more for the Utility ratio.🙂 Meaning it will lead to a failure. Take note that the Legs are the resistance for the braces. There's also a rule that the Horizontal member in this section shall be installed, continuously. Beware where to splice.🙂

Alam mo ba na ang Flat Area Surface ng isang Nut ( sa madaling salita, yung size ng nut bawasan ng butas neto) ay may kadahilanan sa pag dedesign nang iyong Anchor Bolt? Bukod sa kinailangan na maipasa ang bolt size (diameter) neto dahil sa tension ay dapat maipasa din ang Flat Area netong Nut? Dahil maaring mag customize ka ng Washers or sa magandang paraan ay yung Holding Down Plate para habulin ang Flat Area na kulang.🙂

Meron din maximum and minimum Nut Size na matatagpuan depende sa availability nang iyong supplier/vendor ng anchor bolt. Minsan ay nauuna ang pag design ng tower bago pa magkaroon ng vendor or fabricator neto. Kung gayon ang isang structural engineer ay dapat na magkaroon ng network sa mga supplier or vendor hindi lng sa kapwa nilang designer; para palawakin ang isipan neto at maipili kaagad ang current used na material gaya ng sa anchor bolt; para maiwasan ang pag customize or pagpili sa matataas na size sa pagnegosasyon sa gitna ng fabricator at ng designer at magkaroon ng overweight. Na kadalasan nagkaroon ng problema sa budget at oras ng client kung saan hindi na-iconsidered at kailangan uli pa approved.🙂

Dahil sa katangian ng plain rounded anchor bolt na kadalasan na ginagamit, yung outside surface neto ay wala gaanong basihan sa pag analyze? Kung hindi ay yung Flat Area ng Nut na mag hohold down at ang haba (ld) ng reinforcement ng iyong concrete column ay siyang mag dectate ng pullout resistance or breakout surface?
